  1. Hehee think its a close resemblance ? K
  2. * blushes * why Sir..! I do try ? dunno really, its odd but i would not have removed tree without TO consent. But a bit of pruning might not have been wot the guy actually wanted ? K
  3. Absolutely bang on Mr Stubby ! How do you do it ?? Bottle of wine is yrs K
  4. Usually indicates to change blades / anvil and operator ? K
  5. Just as importantly - due to previous occupant , stumpgrinding? Soil augmentation and feeding with good mulching afterwards, work sand into soil - if yr on clay with some lime. K
  6. Now i aint complaining over the loss of wine ( oddly ) and it would only be done on a favour basis. As i am still in full time work...... but this bugger is there with his pal, done by midday and i managed to prise the cost out of said friend, crammed it all in back of a hi top van, an buggered off. Now those of us on here with the kit and the certification and insurance and proper understanding but struggling to find work, are being undercut by this sort ...... I will let you guess wot they charged but nearest one to 400 squid wins a bottle of wine.... K
  7. So..... Friend asked abt some overhanging tree ( 8m Robinia - Conservation Area) shading their back garden, so i said " just needs a crown lift an a bit of a tickle off the top ( silky)" thinking, worth a couple of bottles of wine that... Visited yester, an saw this.......
  8. . Hhhhhhhmmmmmm....... See below... ?

  12. Yea but you have to buy a Stihl Kombi, an they are crap. K
  13. ( one guy was wot i would call chubby, hadnt climbed for 11 years and he was right up there !! Branch walking no bother)
  14. @AA Teccie (Paul) following this up, my ha'penny worth on the saga ? did a review / assessment of 6 CS38 guys who variously hadn't climbed in years. But were expected to show their stuff against the certification. Had a nice line of big mature open grown Oaks, made it clear All Climbing will be on 2Rope, regardless of when they passed their ticket ( mine was 1998) plus side strop. Appart from general slowness, fatness, unfamiliarity, new shiny ropes and one recently mended broken arm! They all got up - got around the trees - did their change overs and a 'simulated' aerial rescue ( talked it through from the ' point where casualty was supposed to be ?) we debriefed and told them they all did well considering everthing, and to practise and familiarise themselves so they can move on to CS39. Really they were no bother and had no real bother managing it. Which impressed me. Obvs in many situations it would be a hell of a struggle - but then, this profession is often a hell of a struggle ? K
  15. Zactly Dempsey! Bent bar = didnt make the cut properly/ accurately. Cut strop = didn't take proper care Chain brake handle guard broke = smacking it thru crotches or hanging miles off harness. Air filter housings smashed = see above. Seen enuff - an broke a few myself ( oddly i paid fr them cos..... Well, you would.......) K
  16. I would be replacing certain climbers, rather than saws. K
  17. @Stere we uuse a Brushcutter with guides an abrasive 3M paint stripper pad, on it for cleaning Oak debris off rail. Think they fit or can be made to fit. K
  18. Best to say nowt n keep people unsure Mr Stubby, I enjoy my excesses, but also project thoughtful and knowledgeable in between, keeps the enemy guessing. K
  19. You realise Dempsey, it's all that Mr Stubby can call anyone ! He still got dust off Moses tablet chiselling in his pocket ? k
  20. Bought a Flora best petrol polesaw / strimmer / hedgecutter fr 130 squid - couldn't be happier . K
  21. Dear God ? K
  22. We have got an old Badger run as part of the original planning consent, behind the ouse which is now disused, so am wiring it off fr 'hogs an will set up feeding program . K
  23. As will be setting up a sanctuary this year for them, he will not be welcome, tho walkies will be available. K
