i have the red peltor ones, they are pretty good, had them a few years and ok so far. easy to leave them switched on, and volume can be knocked by high collar jackets. i like them but i havent tried any others? carl

we have used a short soft sling around stem and a bit of 4x2 between two guys for heavy ones. a very short sling around the stem , or two for two people. the end of a ratchet strap could act as a hook, dunno what youd do with the other 5m of it tho! iam sure that earth must be a 50/50 mix of recycled lead, how can something that size be so heavy!!? enjoy carl

id say to be honest youve probably put off a lot of prospective bosses with your chipping n raking comment, as youve kinda implied your not keen on it. in my experience a work experience persons ability to do the mundane crap end of the job without a fuss counts for a lot. that said maybe you just got unlucky with a piss taker firm? hope you get some luck with it, just add in " willing to do anything!" just my 2cents worth. carl

hi gray, how are you doing the taper on these splices? i tried cutting the ends at an angle as suggested somwhere but didnt seem right, is it a case of removing strands? thanks carl

look like a good combo, tracked chippers really come into there own on that sort of stuff( and pretty much every other chippin scenario imo!) carl

ive always had stretch airs type "C" but have noticed that they do a pair with the ultra tough knee fabric that covers the whole leg from the knee down, anyone tried a pair? do they last a bit longer as mine always seem to get ragged there from the hanging saw etc?? thanks carl

cant really see how thats any better or quicker than clipping it back onto the rope? maybe iam missing somthing!?? i think for all round strength and ease slings are hard to beat. carl

i had a chain that a file just wouldnt touch just kept skidding about, ended up taking to the shop where they took it down on a grinder and then was fine after that...odd not sure if thats whats happening to you? carl

keep an eye out for rust on the cab, espacailly if it has that thick rubberized underseal on it as it can rot away inside and look fine. carl

thanks for sharing that lily white, certinly food for thought and i guess to make the courier worth while id have to get it modded and tweaked too:biggrin: took it to work today and used the compressor to clean it up and noticed that one of the head bolts had come partially out so i guess that cant of been helping, so tightened that and will try it again. thanks carl
