    harness

I have broken 2 petzl carrytools on the harness, the first one snapped whilst climbing after I bashed it and the other one lost its metal clip. I now have a simple snap karibiner instead Clog Straight Gate Karabiner - Tiso.com , I had originaly intended to sew it in position to keep it pointing outwards but TBH it works fine as it is. As for the back comfort, I have no idea how ergonomic it is, its just comfy full stop.
  2. I used to split al my wood by axe untill I got the splitter, I had an axe and a maul. I used the axe over the maul every time, it just worked so much better, It was a large headed axe and was as heavy as the maul, I found the head lying around somwhere and put a new helve on it, I also kept it sharp, When it stuck I'd just tap the helve downwards and it would come out. I think with a good technique an axe is better. Maybe I had a crap maul and a really good axe? who knows.
  3. Back next tues with the tractor, not sure whats happening to it yet, just glad I'm not taking it away.
  4. thats quality, Even funnier if the client comes home during the performance. PMSL

    harness

I like mine. Its the freedom of movement and back support I like.
  6. Noble fir, just posted spme pics on the "general" thread:001_smile:
  7. A few from today dismal weather hence dark pics, the fir was a monster, not amazingly tall but about 9 cube of chip off it and one seriously long fat stick, and the stem was quite big too, LOL
  8. It was ment to come down but I must confess I did leave a couple of long pegs for lunge purposes. I almost stood on top of it but chickened out LOL
  9. Nice one Mike, I hope you're enjoying the sunshine you lucky b'tard. Its 'kin cold here.
  10. I saw some last year, made of plastic very robust. they are out there.
  11. Badger jaws are hinged and do not come apart even when down to bare bone unlike cats and dogs. Just go and have a play around with it:001_tt2:
  12. Wood ash is quite alkaline and so tends to make potatoes more likely to get scab, as they prefer slightly acidic soil. its great for everything else, really gets my tomatoes flowering.
  13. I have a mat who has one, he has enormous wheels and tyres on it, it does look the part. but not that practical really. It was a genuine 6x6 too untill axle packed in so mow its 4x4. this is the only pic i have of it i think.
  14. Sorry to hear that Dave, its funny that this seems to have got more common as the recesion has bitten, which sugests that these people used to have jobs and have turned to this as as alternative. You'd think that someone who had worked for a living might know better the damage that they cause to peoples livelihoods.
  15. Not on the tatties though:001_smile: I find BTW if you only burn wood and no coal there's not that much ash anyway, I take out about 2 pans of ash for every cube of logs I burn. Thats only once a week on each burner really.
  16. We didn't get a paper today, are you in any of the sundays?
  17. There are so many better hitches that you can use instead of your prussic Stevie, just use the same bit of cord and the same technique but way nicer to use, we have this on our short ropes. Hitchclimber's only for big trees. BTW I was joking about Mon Tues, but if you fancy it let me know. I'll show you some better knots.
  18. I was watching an interview on TV with a christmas tree grower, he was describing how the growers market works: there is a shortage of trees (like now) and many people start growing them. Then they all reach a marketable size at the same time and so there's a glut and so prices crash and people get out of the market again. I think logs will be the same, many of those who are just getting into the market for a fast buck will maybe be leaving it once they realise it doesn't pay. This year will just be crap.
  19. I'm only teasing, you have my sympathy, cold/flu is misery. I do think that getting outside and doing stuff is a good idea though, staying in and keeping warm just makes it last longer IME.
  20. Get back to work ya big jessie, five mins up a tree and you'll have forgotten all about it. Oh and if you smoke...give up. I used to get a couple of colds a year and since I stopped i have had 1 in 4 years:001_smile:
  21. Well, this has gotten interesting since I last looked! I finished the job today, it was a major PITA a parked car made the drag even worse and we were clearing up by torchlight. HOWEVER The price will be as quoted, I am surprised by the number of guys who will go back to a client and ask for more, puts you in the same league as theh pikeys IMO. This client got me on a recomendation from another client, if she then tells her friend that the guy she recommended came back for more money, then thats two clients who wont be recomending me. As things stand I have only reinforced my reputation. As for the money, I have a weekly and monthly target which I work towards so as long as I hit that I can afford the odd balls up, and despite crimbo, december is looking good.

    Jokes???

    :lol:why men don't write columns.pdf
  23. its another captive eye crab like the one at the top of the pic, and I've since removed it. That pic was taken just after I got that harness and I thought at the time I'd have two crabs on there. I hardly ever use the one let alone 2 so i took it off. I normally clip into the ring and use the crab when climbing on a sling to extend the bridge for ascending. I was thinking of trying a swivel, I take it you dont like it?
