  1. I have an oyster kit, which I have not done yet, mine says use beech or other hardwood ( Pleurotus ostreatus ). However if is ment for conifer then it oughta work, mine also says wrap it in a plastic bag to keep the moisture in and keep it warm, 20 degrees, till the mycelium is visible then plant out. Hope it works, keep us posted:001_smile:
  2. I had a go with the positioner, it is not very smooth when releasing under load. I didn't rate it TBH. I use an isc micro grab and TBH I think its fine. I dont find having to take my weight off it to release is that much of a problem. Also with practise, I have found that a jerk of the hips is enough to release it,(you dont need two hands) once moving I "brake" the line entering the device with two fingers whilst operating the cam with the other two, this works fine for me and gives much more controll than I got with the positioner.
  3. This is my local guy, he has at least 1 yellow ranger in at the mo, I drove past last week. Waterloo Van Centre. Tel. 01890 818 100 Vans for sale
  4. I don't think there is a minimum wage in the US, they only get 2 weeks holiday a year, they dont have the same company pensions etc that we do and there isnt the same h&s stuff. This makes a big difference to the costs of making and selling something, just look at how cheap the chinease can make a saw.
  5. i do mine without a pillowcase too, never had any probs. i think the pillow case will make it ball up and cause an uneven load. PS our current washer is a Blomberg and is really well built, it has never moved a millimetre since we got it 8 years ago.
  6. We got a massive one at an NCT sale, £5!!! If you or the missus voulenteers as a halper for the day you get first dibs on all the stuff, which is a good idea apparently cos its a scrum when the door open. We got loads of baby stuff well cheap. NCT in Scotland - NCT
  7. When I started up in 2003 there was only 1.5 sides! What surprised me was how many firms had upped their spend this year.
  8. Don't be too unkind guys, he could have bought them at a stolen / recovered auction or from a dealer who went bust. don't they make a 361c anyway? Not saying its legit... but it could be.
  9. I have seen the logosol in use and was very impressed with it,(the dealer is 5 mins up the road from here) not seen the logster though. Welcome to the forum BTW
  10. Talking of cord...Anyone tried new england Therma sheild? looks worth a try.
  11. Tom D

    ouch

Dont make me show the testicles one again.
  12. they were still there when I'd done. I got a hammer and nails and nailed each line to the tree, then launched the stuff over it.
  13. A dead robinia from friday and a couple from today, we were near the airport so no surprise when a helicopter came in low nearby.... then it got lower and lower, then I was getting blasted by snow it bolwing up.. by the time I had got the camera out it had nearly landed. Turns out its one of the neighbours and that its what the guy commutes in. Kind of a rich neighbourhood.
  14. I should have said, this is a fast flowing stream which in spate is quite powerful, I am really looking to try and prevent any further landslips into the river by locking the bank together a bit more securely. I dont think any tree would withstand the full force of the spate.
  15. Any planting recommendations for stabilisng a steep bank down to a fast flowing stream, currently a lot of ash but much of it was severely undermined in recent floods, we will be heavily pollarding many of the ash trees so light levels should be good initially. I was thinking white willow but quite open to other suggestions.
  16. After reading this thread I looked on our LA's websites for my own applications, I didn't find any at any of the three LA's that I normally deal with. They do publish details of planning applications but not tree work so it must be an English thing. Do they publish conservation area work Apps as well as TPO's?
  17. I bet Mike and Dean will be down with their rifles on friday.
  18. Since an axe is much lighter than my tractor I think you should come to me. Unless Woodfuel want to bring a 16tonner like mine to a show this year and let me use it to kick your ass.LOL
  19. I'd still win even if i took the 4 way knife off.
  20. I have to say I agree, despite having an indoor wood heating system. However I was able to install 2 large 0.6/7mcube log stores within the walls of the house.(the walls are over 3 feet thick), there is a door on the outside and another on the inside, each store is right next to each fire. You fill up from the outside and take from inside, so minimal mess and by lucky co-incidence the stores last a week so I refill each weekend. I remember before I built them we had dust and bark all over the place not to mention the woodlice and other beasties which inevitably come off the logs.
  21. I've got £50 says you can't. Don't get me wrong I love axes and old tools and stuff but there's no way anyone can out compete a splitter over say half an hour. I have a gransfors hatchet BTW which I really love and it takes a razor sharp edge.
  22. Does adding an intercooler to a normally aspirated engine make any difference? Or does yours have a turbo? FWIW I have driven both chassis sizes in an urban environment (u1000 and u1750) The big one was a nightmare, long drags because you cant take it down peoples driveways and a difficult when you meet another large vehicle in a narrow street. The 1000 was little different from a large van, only slower, much slower.
  23. Nothing wrong with doing that on a speculative basis, but to target known planning apps is low IMO. I think the councils shouldn't publish details of the the applicant.
  24. It took three and a half years for our wood heating system to pay for itself (rayburn and aaroww stove) and thats with free wood too. Although I am not sure how much not running an electric cooker has saved...
  25. What sort of edge did it come with Mozza?
