I'll bet they wouldn't be that bad to get made up stevie if you cant find them, the sparex catalogue is all you need, just buy the eyes and get them made up to fit your machine. There's a company my dad uses who can make up rams to your spec too. Sparex Home

We won't join the euro now, Its fecked, they are having to bail out greece, portugal and ireland. Just a good job we're not in it. the country needs a tory government, just like it needed a labour government in 97. We need massive cuts in the public sector especially the final salary pensions, a labour government just cant do that as it would tear the party in half. Only a tory government could do it, of course they'd be so unpopular that they'd be voted out next time, but by then the work would be done. It has a bitter taste but we need to take our medicine.

If coronetting prolongs the "useful" life of a tree which under standard "arboricultural practise" would have been felled then it most definately does benefit the tree.

I did think that but it would be a higher frequency vibration than the one in the vid, I'd have thought. Checking the drain hole on the bell housing for swarf and bits of metal would be a good start I reckon.

Having watched that vid I'd say that the fly wheel wasn't the cause of that movement, since there is no direct link from the flywheel to the gear linkage. That would be caused by the engine and gearbox moving in retation to the chassis... worn engine mount maybe? Not saying yours isn't the flywheel, but the symptoms of a flywheel breaking up would be more likelt to be noise and vibration and of course damage to starter and ring gear. Is there a drain hole in the bell housing? if so you could maybe get a finger inside and feel for debris..

The last clip, this was the root ball being winched down the river, I have plenty of wire on the winch so it wasn't too bad getting it 150yds+ down stream. We used re-directs to keep it in the centre, bt the time I pulled it out it had lost a couple ton of stones and mud, it came out pretty clean. just home for lunch, I love working near home:thumbup: It wasn't edited on, its the mic on the pov which is inside my clothes, meaning I sound muffled. The reason for the job was a previous flood did £300 000 worth of damage, it was caused by water backing up from a fallen tree.

This was worse than I thought, once we cut through the ivy we found the stem was much bigger than i remember, a lot of soil from the rootplate had landed on the stem, burying the first 6' or so. The rootplate must have weighed 5 ton and was too much for my wee tractor even with the winch tripled. we're going to attempt that today. nice work, i took down 14 on a big site last year, its handy for free falling being so chewy, but a pita for lowering.

She slept 12 til 6 last night, pretty good I reckon. however 2 nights ago was hellish. Still on a day like this I'd rather be home changing nappies than be out at work. Might curl up and watch a film this arvo, got to go and look at a building site later, should take all of five mins. Then back home for tea...much more of this fatherhood lark and I'll be a propper layabout like Mr Blair.

they're probably right, when i did my tachyon they weren't much good, they are good for hollow braid like ice tail though. I found a heavy wire bent back on itself and nicely de-burred was the best thing for the double braid. But I'm no expert, ask jamie.

I just ordered a new tubular bumper and steering guard, I have been meaning to for a while and have bitten the bullet. While the bumper and guard are practical useful things I also really like the look of the mantec snorkle PM040 Mantec Raised Air Intake - FLEXLITE PLASTIC JOBBY - 300TDI TD5 and PUMA but I have no real intention to drive a 2 year old vehicle through 4' of water. So should I get it just because it looks good? or is that a bit gay?

A man of your talents could make a decent fid, just a bent piece of wire is good, I bought these selma ones Ropeloft rope splicing demos but a wire is just as good for some splices.

Appart from NPTC's which don't make you skilled all the quals and learning that I have done were for my own benefit, not anyone elses. I know what I can and can't do and so long as i'm making money I dont really care how that relates to others in the same game. I think this is a pretty pointless debate. Its just semantics, you can put me in any pidgeon hole you like...I couldn't care less:001_tt2:

This bad attitude thing seems quite common, A friend recently rang a dealer about a new firewood processor, they never got back to him despite ringing several times, i just had a similar situation with timber cranes, I have been ringing round to get specs and prices for one that I am going to buy this summer, two of the dealers that I rang never called back despite me leaving several messages. If thats what they're like when you want to buy something new imagine what its like geting spares! I cant understand how you can run a buisiness like that, its a sure way to alienate customers.

I've had one for about 2 years, not had any problems. intel core 2 duo processor on this one.

I got mine thinking I'd only use it on big trees, I use it on virtually everything. It saves so much wear on your rope too, the extra life you get out of your rope should help with the coming to terms with the price. Being able to choker it onto a stem and still get ot down again is also a bonus. I'd rather have a rope guide and a crap prusic/rope combo than a hitchclimber with great cord and perfect hitch but no rope guide.
