  1. well,,,,,,nobodys mentioned em yet, so here goes, certainly wood. seasoned £78 bag £117 m3 kiln dried £96 bag £145 m3
  2. is this not all covered by the FSC scheme. well it keeps referring to it. more bureaucracy, more administrators oops, employment up, who"s going to pay oops again.
  3. 50 m3 approx pure beech , premium price does that include the vat. if so buy buy .
  4. syampathy,,,,,,,,,,,for the majority on here it is. £60 a bulk bag, £90/m3 18-22 % moisture delivered local
  5. go on then, what kind of kiln have you got. how long does it take to get to 20%,how much fuel, and how much you selling for. pictures.?
  6. TICKHILL LOGS are out too. still plenty of merchants selling wet crap. iam constantly amazed at people buying them. and paying around the £80 mark/builders bag. CERTAINLY WOOD dont charge that for kiln dried. PENISTONE FIREPLACES have started replacing knackered flue liners, where people have been burning wet logs and coal/coke. mine are still selling at 18-22% moisture
  7. well i reckon on £15/bag £45/t £23/m3 and have learnt theres no shortcuts with wood, no matter what the scale. 50 or 500t Hello All! I agree with the above. The costing shown is far from the actual costs so a quick breakdown is shown for the newbies to the game. Softwood timber when produced is between £80-90 not including general company overheads ie accountants , insurance etc. £40 x 25 tonnes = £1000 (wood costs inc delivery Forestry commission contract) 3 days labour - 3 men £100 a day = £900 Diesel / oils / fuel = £75 Machine costs allowing depreciation / servicing £200 Total £2175 / 25 tonnes = £87 tonne GREEN logs £2175 / 50 cubic metre cages = £43.50 cm3 (this can vary dramatically but bare minimum calc is you will always get 50 1m3 cages from a wagon load - max is 65) Hardwood I would allow 150-160 per tonne ( I can't be bothered breaking it down) :-) Prices obviously differ to everyone depending on set up but these prices are what I work on. I am visiting Brecon to see the demo tomorrow and will drop a post afterwards. I do know of a similar outfit currently being set up with no deposit needed and lower KW requirements. There are good and bad points to every new venture and Log pro shouldn't be slated. I've spoken to Danielle from the company and they sound a professional outfit and obviously spent a lot of money researching and setting it up. They are a business and not a bloody charity! Off course they will make money selling a product ..... Funnily enough that's called business. I think for those who can afford it, it's not a bad deal maybe a little step on the RHI requirements but over all pretty fair and they definitely need to look at the cost of running it! If you can't afford 5k outlay in a bond which is fully refundable, to be fair you must a very small outfit. In supplying a kiln this cheap they will be helping the proper firewood merchants like myself and many of you on here, in getting rid of cowboys who sell wet wood for a quick buck. Most people don't know about burning suitable wood in their stoves and personally think it will be another 2 years before everyone is up to speed with it all. I think log pro will be suitable to the mid range 500t a yr semi professional producer and not for the likes of mr tom dick and Harry down the road trying to build their own. Remember premium products premium prices! I have been involved in firewood for nearly 20 yrs and professionally 5 yrs so hope my comments carry some advice. I understand people are struggling for timber and stillages such as IBC units. If this is the case please call me on 07584624394 as I supply both all over the UK. Wish you all the best Harry Barker - Welsh Woodland Firewood. N Wales
  8. i see french vat on fuel now 10%. and why end the thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/67584-massive-demand-but-still-selling-logs-if-waste.html it was just geting interesting. the benchmark price has to be Kiln Dried Logs and Seasoned Logs for Firewood - Certainly Wood
  9. SEASONS Greetings. delivered to stove shop the other week. they have started to replace flue liners already. customers burning coke and wet logs. dissolves and rusts stainless liners. roll on. best publicity i can have for my dry logs. when a few have had to pay £1500 ish for a new liner,my sales should increase again. but many will not learn when they can buy wet for 40-65 and dry for £60 a bag at the moment. talking to a fabricator from new mills, he has a hetas fitter buying 7-10 register plates every week............ so ,,,,plenty of opportunities out there.
  10. been told "clearview do not recommend kiln dried in their brochures" aint no good , if it were Europeans would be doin it
  11. giving it away, they get 8.5p/kwh. put 500t / year through it, and its paid for in 18mth. nice, but can you get one registered for rhi. i dont think so.
  12. soo, whats the biggest drawback, normal wear and tear is down to logpro. a free kiln for 5 years
  13. The main reason in the uk is that the biomass boys want softwood chip,as its more consistent and handleability and processability and machineability and price. nice straight sticks. the poor quality of the neglected hardwood forests / timber is for the firewood boys to sort out.
  14. interesting too how ignorant we all are on THE ACTUAL COSTS OF ENERGY... variables, insulation, comfortable heat, ect, ect, and you can always turn it OFF.. hair and nail extensions have priority over heat and food.
  15. i spy an ifor trailer you got a tacho in the truck ???
  16. s.o.p more info / pics dont like the look of the side splinters
  17. well ,,,at the moment, have contractors in with saw blade hedge trimmer butchering 10 to 20 years of growth. dads view, all that paperwork to still loose money on the grants system,,,,just not worth the hassle. a laid hedge is stock proof//people proof for a generation. when are defra going to open their eyes and ears, by their track record never. as farmers we can only do what is economically dictated by government and industry.. get charles to influence some more money into the grants system, better for us all including the environment.
  18. would it not be better to ask how many loads per artic. then work tonnage out.
  19. hi all, glad to see some of you got the point i was trying to make through the hysteria. fact is we have some of the cheapest energy prices in europe at the moment. they are only going to go in one direction. whatever the politicians say or lying promise us. same for our timber and log prices. http://www.energy.eu/‎ from the small amount of feedback replies shows a big variation in what we are all paying,,,and how the standing charges are hidden in the bills,,to bamboozle us all. more input and companies used would be good to compare. soo,,,insulate, insulate, turn off, turn off, is the only way to go. your bill aint going to go down. prioritize, strange init, food banks on tv, women their, can not afford food, but they have nail extensions and £150 hair cuts. just an observation,,,,,,,,,,,,
  20. yes............... look at logsnstuff............and they have more trees up there......
  21. Read all posts again. Dont want to upset anyone too much, but, to you all please answer the question.... How much do you pay for your eleci, and or gas and or oil per kwh. Not interested in how much you use,,,,,,, total bill . The price per unit, kilowatt hour, kwh ,,,,,,,standing charges,, npower 10p/kwh plus £35/ 1/4 std charge RED gas oil 72p/l plus 5% vat i do know that 99% of you and the population will not have a clue what iam on about. It is the same in austria and france and italy. I will repeat the very important question again. ----what is the price of electricity / gas where you are. Per kwh.--- its on your bill some where.
