  4. we got 3 days of + temp, hopefully most of it will shift, as long as we can get some cloud cover at nighttime to keep the temp up.
  5. we got a thaw starting today, snow coming off the trees, a bit to far christmas to predict too precise, but fingers cross, roads now open here but no petrol or diesel n garages
  6. something short.....jack, star, sam
  7. unless they have banned some of the chemicals used in tanalising, i ll find that 1 out
  8. norway spruce always been used for fencing, much the same as stika spruce in uses, tends to grow slightly slower, but mainly straighter in stems.
  9. whos ur isp....ur line is not getting capped?
  10. to be honest i think that poem was meant for wood burning on top of coal.......all wood needs to be dried down 20% or better to get the best result cut split and in shed asap

  14. have u seen the maxi lift crane that fits on trailers. i think if u go to South West firewood website.......u will see it on fitted on flat trailer
  15. i hav nver put a saw into a shop to be tuned n 25 years in the business pretty basic stuff..as a saw needs to be run for 20 mins before retuning. i cant personally see that happening in the workshop
  16. havnt u got a manual.......it aint rock science......change the plug....clean the debris round the coil.......carburettor settings in manual. wastoe of money putting n shop unless nnot working
  17. http://www.firs-garage.com/new-vehicles-mitsubishi-l200-tipper.htm...........looked at this site a few times
  18. we aint doubting that after splitting over here, the problem is u wont get 67cubic metres of round timber in a 67 cubic metre container, i reckon 35 or less. so jays calculation are pie n the sky......huck lol
  19. sry all round timber that comes into the UK has to be debark, EU or not, maybe i missing something here.........is the container volume 67cc metres or is it bigger and holds 67 cubic metres of timber.
  20. sry cant see any conifers are they further along.... had similar job other day, pine tree came down due to weight of snow on care home roof..was worse than it looked
  21. jay vee u seem to be selling the volume of the container not the volume of the wood in it. As been commented above i doubt if the actual volume of the wood is 30 cc metres. U must be transporting the wood to the containers by timber wagons so it must have been weighed, u must know how many trailer loads fill a container. UK birch cut 2010 delivered to ur yard is £35 a tonne or around £42 a cubic metre if u prefer that measurement. I am afraid to me, urs works out about £190
  22. all imported round timber has to be debarked before entry
  23. i spent 2to3yrs working in front of the harvesters on windblown after the last big blow up here........sometimes u get u 10 trees or more still attached to a plate...always a bit worrying which 1 to leave to the end.....surprising some just go dowm slowly others crash down.personally a line of trees all lying on the tree in fronts plate tend to be a bit more dangerous. nice job well done
  24. a company pays him his invoices in 24hrs for a 10% commission........really depends how bad ur cashflow is, i found if keep everything tight for a few months until u get within ur payment cycle but ur bank should be ur first call. We all know the slow payers in the forestry business, contractors ended up financing estate and forestry management company jobs. waiting 90 days for ur money is a joke.
