  4. Dont know about coffins... but I do know they used elm for blocks and stuff since the wood is kinda oily so blocks didnt need greasing...
  5. Not excactly, but felled around 100 elms couple years ago on a contract. Some of it was cut up and is now a lovely floor. Elm smells like a dogs dodo when it dries, you might want to take that into account...

  11. What is the going exchange rate? About 649 turnips to a Swede? Is that about right....
  12. So true! I was working for a bloke that was treating a employee like that. I pesuaded him to move on after 14teen years of household slave treatment... I said he could use me as referal if he wanted, he never did. I just happened so that several people knew he was a skilled and loyal employer who wouldnt moan about things. Happy end;New employer who appreciated him, he got another 100 quid a month and paid for all the "extra" time that he was supposed to get back as favours and the like....(benefits...) Met him about a year later, much happier, regular hours , no weekendemergency work etc... So my advise is; Se yourself as a skilled employee that someone should earn the benefit of using...! Not a dog following your owner hoping him to drop a sausage or somthing...
  13. Not Dean I hope!......
  14. Id say that´ll be difficult since they are nocturnal, transparent and semi reflective breed. The odd one are known to be "glow in the dark" types, but they rarely survive due to overcharging.
  15. I have turned down several felling jobs, either talked them into a pruning job instead or put a silly pricetag so they cant afford it (it'll be cheaper to let it be and build youre terrace somewhere else... or a pruning is cheaper... When I was still new to the buisness I was made to fell a lovely birch in a garden, the only one I may add, cause it was casting shade on their future terrace... I tried to talk them out of it, and suggested them to relocate the terrace due to shade effect on the house. They wouldnt have it.... This was in early spring when all Swedes are crazy about the sun! Later on that summer, which turned out to be one of the hottest for years (!), me and my boss did a small job for a neighbour. The previous customer had built their terrace and spent a small fortune on a sail and two fancy sun parrasols to create some shade.... The guy came over and asked us if we could come over for some advice..... I couldnt belive it! He had a problem....the house was to hot and the family was struggling to sleep... He asked if we could replant a big tree in his garden!?!? Oh boy! Did we give a silly quote on that!!!!

  21. Well you should see me in my "Catman" costume.... i wear when i'm on these missions!

  23. Another cat down on the floor... Got a call from a distressed catowner on thursdaymorning saying that I had to come to get her cat out of a tree! The cat had spent one night up in the tree (?) and she was well upset... I told her to give the cat a couple of days to get hungry, regret the mistake to climb the tree and chill down for a bit. Talked to her every day and told her to rattle the food can and try to lure him down... to cut a long story... She was crying this morning so I agreed to come in the afternoon. Climbed the tree, rattled his fav snack in front of him, got him to walk towards me slowly grabbed him after feeding him a few bits and a cuddle, put him on my shoulder and slid down in a speedy manner so that if he descided to jump he would be closer to the ground. No probs handed him over to the owner with the crowd clapping their hands...!!! Another succsessfull rescue:001_smile: So thats my advise; Starve them for a couple of days and they will be happy when you approach:closedeyes:
