  1. Can anyone help ID this? Grew at the base of elm...
  2. Gives an average of 2062 Euro per month. You get extra money from Father Christmas and hollidayman....
  3. Dont know... I'll bring my good camera tomorrow and take some more pics! And have a proper examination... Any Ideas so far?
  4. Whats this? I know ive seen it in some book...its my first IRL one, but I cant remember the name. Grows in the grass at the base of a elm.
  5. Second you on that! Me and a collegue always break up the tree together. Him or me makes the fell, I break up tke crown in managble bits/cut, fold and stack to lengths for lorry w. crane to pick up, he tapers the stem into 4m lengths and sned from bottom up, its all about eye contact and experience, any dodgy/hard to decide if tree is going to move is alarmed and the other person steps outside the dangerzone. Works for us! Ive done it with previous collegues too, but also avoided doing it with some cause we werent on the same "wavelenght". A Swedish collegue is a instructor in snedding, hes got a nice flow...;
  6. Rehearsal for dumping a body? ....or nuclear waste? Brilliant to put the pics above the binliners! You should take a picture of the bags and the photo laminate it and put in all local shops and gas stations...
  7. Well spotted! Is that your yard? Whats in the bags? Contribution towards your buisness?
  8. OOOps! I think I have vinded up some ppl:blushing:! I was just saying that a winch is something that is god to have sometimes....but not nessecerily on these trees! Sorry I dont have any videos...(easy to say) hopefully I will get a chance to show you if I manages to get the right object. I just wanted to point out that some tecniques are complicated and therefore involves bigger risks eg trees "jumping off the butt, falling in a unintended direction etc...simple and safe is often better in my opinion, there is so many ways of using a wedge...I'll see if I can find some examples there ought to be Youtubeclips...
  9. Try to twist the actual prussic cord when you tie the VT, it controls the tightness, if you get what I mean? Turn one /or both eyes clockwise or anti clockwise, this will change the caracteristic of the knot. So the VT is a bit fiddly eg Different wraps, different prussicmaterial, different rope and the twist in the prussikmaterial when you tie, it is all parts in the perfect VT. Fiddle about with these different parts and you'll find a nice combo that works for you. I have tried taking of wraps and twisting the prussic half a turn, and the other way around, sometimes a twist is enough on a wet day for the VT to bind or selfadjust. Good luck!
  10. Here it is mostly Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies. But also Larix sp, beech and birch (and aspen for matches...;-) ) Harvesters can only deal with some trees (smaller ones) the bigger is beeing felled manually. Esp close to built up areas where forrests been left alone or forrests that hasnt been on hard maintenence schemes (small private plots)
  11. No need for a winch on any of them trees...Good cutting tecnique and proper use of wedges i would have that tree down just as fast if not faster, with at least one feet longer log (especially with middle unharmed since its the most valuble bit) and ,yes, in a few days cutting thats another couple of trees.
  12. Log buyers here wouldnt be happy with all the pulled fibres....Loosing money on that. Winch and wedges all the way! Utter pants and unsafe with no exact aim! Work a day with a swedish logger and you learn lots! I know we dont get massive trees, but the ones ive felled with back, side, quaterbacklean has never been a problem! Always get them down where I want.
  13. "Sold due to upgrade" Why would you do that?!? This fine piece has never played up:lol:
  14. On a warm sunny day, when its hot, I do that on purpose! For aircirculation:sneaky2:
  15. Stihl MS200? Nifty little thing, lightweight and great power/weight relation! Can go all day with a feather in my hand....
  16. I suggested that when a several hundred years old lime were killed in Stockholm for waterview, brilliant move I think. We had that today where residents in new houses have felled 2o-30 semi mature trees, that were left as natural habitats in a developmentarea. Luckily one of the neighbours, who didnt like the trees to be felled, had a camera....:sneaky2:Well see what the police thinks...
  17. I belive jonsered is owned bu Husquarna nowdays...They are both town names and factories are in neighbouring towns..or usd to be atleast in south of Sweden. Jonsered is considered to be a farmers saw whereas Husky is a forresters...
  18. Fair play! So you thought it was more to it -that "relevant" was a code? For using number nine? Clever! Did'nt think of that. I actually ment that anyone posting a "normal" post on any thread, as a answer or such, would be the winner... Congratulations to all winners! I would also like to thank our sponsor!!!! and last, but not least; MMMMMrrrrrrr Buuulmaaann!!!!! for making it allll posssssible!!!
  19. Whooooaaaaahhhh!!!! Top post!!! Laughed mi pants ofF!!!
  20. Not quite sure what u mean? As for safety? It lives on dead wood, often found on oak stumps...slow rotting i would say..so for safety, minor issue. Will get some pics up on the beuty...., the trees been molested over the years (to strong wording?), well it could have been a nice monolith or a "monnard" instead of just delimbed.
  21. I just revised the whole thread....and searched other threads... Sorry Huck, I think the two claims are relevant posts. They both asked a question and is't that what this forum is all about? Asking questions and finding answers? So, Yes you won! and All you have to do is post on time! is the answer to the winners questions! I know youre chilled, why would't you be? You just asked a question?!? Thanks Yvonne! Now i'm getting all exiting about next years competition.... 10/10/10 10.10:thumbup: Should it be in the Competition thread instead? Olympics...
  22. ls there a more rlghteous vinner in another thread, witn a relevant post you mean? If so:Step forward and clalim your prize! Or be forever silent,,,
  23. Remove the Owners? Then you can sit and enjoy the wonders of mother nature... But seriously Eotetranychus tiliarum causes the leaves to turn yellow brownish and fall of prematurely. These mites winters in full-formed stage on the ground under leaves and other materials. I think your best suggestion to the treeowners is to remove all of the leaves, inorder to reduce the amount of infestation, since predators are somewhat weather sensitive:001_rolleyes:.
