  1. Thank you for posting Monkeybuisness! Really important post. Though it wasnt new to me... very often ropes prussicropes and kit is being discussed regarding safety but as everyone can see ppe is very often overlooked! When I went to school many collegues had crappy helmets with illfitting eardefenders and so on... PPE is the most important safety feature! When and if PPE is inadequate, safe working practise must be applied to avoid pushing PPE:s limits!!! I understand the manufacturers reluctant attitude to give away the company name, but after reading his answers I must say that it is a manufacturer who take full responsibility and is representing his company wery well! I would even say that my trust in that company would be higher after reading this honest and trustworthy answers!
  2. Yes! As far as I can tell. Or maybe not it depends on the other... Are you talkin' about the second or the first ? Is that the first? Come on dont tell me its the second!?! I don't get it do I? Is it even a question....
  3. Good pics! Nice stuff...any more pics? I just attendet a mastersclass (Thanks Jon!) and learned loads... some of the stuff in your pics and more! But in need of pics for a recap...
  4. Never forget to appreciate collegues, if nothing else, they might be your boss one day... Not at all... Just speaking the truth.
  5. Dont do the same as me and get off on the wrong foot, sit back for a bit and learn forum ettiquette:001_smile: True words from someone who is now a appreciated poster/member of this forum. This is all about socialising, same as all groups, sometimes is a good thing to sit back for a while to learn the lingo and secret signs... It took me 3 months b4 I first posted.... Welcome James!
  6. Hey! Maybe gear down? This site is all about comradery and helping out. There is no censorship just a mere moderation of public abuse. I´m sure you and Treequip can work things out. Openair beastings isn´t really on in this forum (moderators have in earlier threads asked everyone to behave, for instance when it comes to Pikies...and such! This forum is open for critisism and diskussion as long as they´re fair! Giving the ones getting criticism a fair chance to reply and defend themselv:bored:es.
  7. Hasselblad. Swedish....as Partner and Husqvarna....
  8. It didnt seize.....but broke:scared1: Luckily a new fuelhose did the trick!
  9. Good on ya! Did the other two Salix alba 2day b4 Teabreak. Managed to get 3 Birches in b4 end of the day! Im still with the flow....wonder if my 020 will seize 2morrow:001_unsure:
  10. I would like to correct last statement:blushing:... Correct spelling and name is Betula pendula ’Dalecarlica’ The tree was found on a estate in Lilla Ornäs in the County of Dalarna (Dalecarlica is latin for Dalarna) by estate owner Hans Gustav Hjort 1767. He wrote a letter to Carl von Lineus a year later and told him about his findings. Lineus asked him to sent the tree to him in Stockholm, luckily he didnt! H.G Hjort tried several times to reproduce the tree but failed. Erik Lindgren, Director of the Royal AgricultureAcademy managed to, in 1878 gather material from the tree and bring it back with him to Stockholm and reproduce the tree. He planted som trees around his house where some of them are still alive. The mothertree fellover in the great storm of 1887 The true varaity 'Dalecarlica* hasnt been in production for about 30 years. The certified tree is avaliable as of last autumn the registred name in Sweden is Betula pendula ’Dalecarlica’ E ®. The tree is sterile due to lack of pollen. A great tree for allergics! Amongst 20 000 -25 000 cutleaf Birches in Sweden its reckoned only 150 -200 is of true origin!!!! Two pics to help you identify the tree.
  11. As I live only ten minutes from the spot where the 'Darlecarlica' originates from I can 100% say its NOT one. Ill go for Alnus glutinosa 'laciniata'. If it is a birch I would say it is some other type eg. 'crispa' which is the one thats usually gets mixed up with 'Darlecarlica'. The true one is back in certified production as of last year! Due to some mixup in the production in earlier years gardencenters been misled and been selling 'Crispa' and other cutleaf birches instead of the one found by Lineus on one of his many travels in Sweden.
  12. I suspect that Im not eligable to enter or am I? Yes please....!
  13. Good on ya!!! Same goes for me! Been a boss of 45 and I DO (and did appreciate and told ppl so) like a pat on the back everyonce in a while..

In the afternoon, as I returned back to the office, she told me she (yes!)were not only impressed by todays work but appreciated all I have done in the last year (she obviosly been tracking my doings...)and what I have achived. She even asked if i needed some gear! Thanks and welcome back!
  15. So do I.....!!!!! Its just great to be able to push on for a bit...just for laugh and the craic! (Madness?) I just like to break in a groundie properly:scared1: Ive been in the trade for some years and done my share of serious hardwork! So whats wrong with the good old days? Zenfordinners hubby could prob tell a story or two...on the good side is when the jinx gets you, I dont have to panic, I will still get paid in full.
  16. It was a little project of mine a while back. Zoning is nothing new but very useful when you have limited resources (like most of us these days). The key points are that the system is defensible and quantifiable, then you can build in your zones to your inspection regime. Was it a written project? This is new to me so any info is helpful. Do u mind sharing? At the mo Im the only one doing treework, nothing has been digitalized.... so i would be good to do it properly first time:001_smile: Zoning would be good as I have to do them allover again and it would be a good to divide urgency.
  17. Nah, couldnt be bothered....my groundie and I descided to do one (bish, bosh, bash), have an early lunch and call it a day. Afterall its friday! Going to a concert (the missus are playing) and a pint afterwards...might fall asleep. Batteries were flat:sad: Se if I can take some photos monday! Have a great weekend all!
  18. "I did my ILM last year and my main project was ‘The Creation and Implementation of a Tree Risk Management System’ basically the system is based around a defensible tree management system. It became very clear early on that the ‘Zoning’ system would be the way to go as it’s more practical, cost effective and can be flexible. For a programme of tree inspection to be manageable, resources need to be directed to areas where there is potentially most risk to people and property. This is designating each part of a site to one of four Risk Zones. These four zones will reflect normal usage but must be kept under review. The level of risk can change from time to time. For example, if we were to hold a public event in one of our parks which is a designated medium risk zone, the risk will change to high for the duration of the event. This is because there are more members of the public standing under the trees (more targets) = increased risk. The city will be divided into the following zones." Very interesting stuff and a very good idea! I´m working on Treemanagment plans for the Council im with. This is a strategy I will apply, do you have more written info about this?
  19. Thought i might share....afterall the banter and rage is really just a small part of our trade isnit! See if I can get some pics... Might b a problem as a 2 man gang means all hands on deck! And NO the birches were fully mature trees (some mahosive ones)
