  1. Check back in 4 months and see how positive I am then 😂
  2. When we went through the 2008 recession, i can't think of any tree firms in my area that went bust. They're all still out there now and they probably will be in years to come. I'm a small, domestic comany and feeling positive!
  3. Cheers guys. Client is open to planting a tree in the front. He's going to go back to the TO to discuss different species.
  4. This is helpful, it seems odd that he has been told to re plant a different species in a completely different spot.
  5. Good point. I don't think the size had been established
  6. Thanks guys. Yes meant to write give notice, not permission.
  7. Evening, Client cuts down crappy bay tree/bush in the rear garden without permission (possibly just over the 75mm at 1.5) Tree officer wants him to plant field maple in the front garden. Is this usually the case? Any advice will be appreciated so I can get back to client. Thanks
  8. Pretty quiet now I've started answering my phone again 😄 Hopefully work will pick up in September!
  9. @Dominic Bailey Ah well if you own a cabstar now you will be familiar. I used to have a 2004 cabstar and the main difference I have noticed is how quiet the drive is, great all round vision with large mirrors and better storage behind the drivers seat and overhead storage. The fully adjustable drivers suspension seat makes the ride more pleasant. I considered the fuso too but when I was getting quotes it was nearly 5k dearer, but a lovely truck if you can afford it.
  10. Also as far as carrying the weight, my grafter weighs 2400kg empty. I have the arb body with barn doors, and that was with a passenger, saws, climbing kits so pretty good to get over 1000kg pay load
  11. I guess a lot will depend on what you are used to. What's your current truck and chipper set up? My opinion of the grafter 125 is a very good one based on towing my little 675kg chipper. I wouldn't entertain the idea if I ran a big chipper over 2000kg eveyday. Definitely worth a test drive as the driving position and gear ratios don't suit everyone.

Selling my cabstar as I now have a new truck so no longer needed. I have owned it from 2016 and have been the only driver. This truck is in good condition for the age. Inside the cab is tidy and the drivers seat is in excellent condition with no rips. Externally the chassis is in good condition. The rear light board does have some corrosion. The wheel arches were welded in 2019 and there is a bit of rust on the cab mounts. Just passed mot on 8th Feb and the only advisories were - split pins missing from both n/s track rod ends - central front seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive. 2004 3 litre turbo engine 119,100 miles 12 months Mot Tipper New clutch in 2020 Nissan main dealer service history up until 2020 then serviced by a local garage Bad points Only 1 key and the key moves freely out of the ignition when the engine is on so on occasions the key slides out of the ignition when driving on a bumpy road. The drivers side door lock can sometimes be a bit stiff but I have never had a problem unlocking it, just a knack to it. The high sides will not be on the vehicle and I will get more pictures on Monday. Based near Weston-Super-Mare £4800 no VAT Sam 07714783226

  13. Collected my grafter last month. It's the 1.9 and I was a little unsure how it would compare to the 3.0 cabstar but turns out nothing to worry about. I honestly think it pulls better. I only run a sub 750 chipper, personally I don't think it's up to the allowed 3.5 tonne towing so if you have a big chipper over 1.5 - 2 tonne go for the bigger engine. Cabstar for sale at the end of Jan. Pm for details.

I used johnadamssupplies.co.uk for the ali planks, end caps and fixtures. A decent hacksaw to fit to size and a riveter to fit the end caps to the planks. You can tell it's 'home made' but does the job well for less than £700
  15. Ok thanks, I was just trying to get my head round it.
  16. Excuse my ignorance, but to be vat registered turning over 85k you will need to be working over 4 days a week at that rate?
  17. In my 3rd year of ownership of a 130 and would definitely recommend. Never once has it blocked up with wet conifer, I don't think modern chippers do anymore? Good value for money. Would happily buy another, but will probs upgrade to an evo in a couple of years. Go for it!
  18. Good to hear. I have been really pleased with the service from GA Groundcare and my greenmech.
  19. Hi, Looking for freelancers to help out for odd days. I am Based in North Somerset and person must be happy to meet on site with own PPE. Contact Sam on 07714783226 Thanks
  20. Yes the single wheeled cabstar is 3.4tonne and can only tow 2 tonne. Not sure about all transits but a newish twin wheeled transit I have driven will only tow 2 tonne. My 3.4tonne cabstar has a payload of 1300kg so pretty decent.
  21. I’m in my 4th year now and for me it was investing in a road tow chipper 6 months ago, I had a small gravity fed one before. Turning over more work in a day and earning nice money finally made it all seem worth it, just wish I had bought one earlier! Although I’m not fully on my own work, more of a sole trader doing some regular freelance work.
  22. Nice result. I was going to suggest tipping £450 worth of crappy green waste and hedge cuttings on his drive ;-)
  23. Thanks for the info will check them out. Where I tip logs this time of year is very greasy and on a slight incline so it takes all my driving skills to pick the right line and not get the cabstar spinning sideways!
  24. I was researching this only yesterday for my cabstar. I wonder if some decent winter tyres would make a difference?
  25. Someone I work for had an operation for this earlier in the year. He did a couple of months on the ground then back in the harness with what seems like no problems from the shoulder. Good result.
