  1. Weston garden machinery, good prices. Sent from my SM-A500FU using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. I flipped mine after 6 months, 6 months on I bought brand new blades with bolts for £180. I tried sharpening the old set but managed to make them worse... Sent from my SM-A500FU using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. It's a spanner type thing that fits over the bearing enabling you to manually turn the drum, maybe your model doesn't have it. I got my spare belts from a local supplier and saved over 50%. Sent from my SM-A500FU using Arbtalk mobile app

  5. Hi R Mac, how do you manage loading it onto the trailer? I have a similar chipper on a small ifor p7e, can just about load it o my own. Keep the blades sharp, carry spare belts and make sure you always have that tool to spin the drum incase it blocks up. Sent from my SM-A500FU using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. My cabstar weighs 2050kg so has a decent payload of 1350kg (it's the single rear wheel version at 3400kg gross) 3.0l turbo diesel pulls well and as mentioned before, awesome turning circle. Not much room or storage in the cab though. Sent from my SM-A500FU using Arbtalk mobile app

    Trailers

I had a level load (up to the top of the mesh) of conifer chip once, tipped at a place with a weigh bridge and it was 7560kg of chip so about 200kg overloaded. Got a tipper now though!

Payload about 550kg. I use it to transport my wee chipper which only weighs 170kg. It is horrible when empty, rattles and bounces!

  12. What about titan pro heavy duty beaver? 15hp, 4inch £1950
  13. I would be interested in the m200 at £1800. I found it on abbey pro for just under £3600
  14. If you are thinking about very tight access, something like a merc atego 1324 short wheel base, 13.5t with a gtw of 28t so i 14t trailer would give an overall pay load of at least 10t. You could also pay someone to act as your transport manager so you don't need to take the exam. Also 6 weekly checks means that big problems usually get noticed before its too late and expensive! Good luck!
  15. Thanks for replies. I think I will go with the 'what if I...' approach and gauge their reaction, wouldn't want to jeopardise anything. It will all be under 48 hours, I can just do a manual entry on a chart and get work to scan it.
  16. Hello, Just after some advice. I'm an ex tree surgoen that now drives a HGV tues - fri, its easy going and fancy doing a bit of grounds work on the monday if I can find a company that will have me. Is it a legal obligation of mine to inform my current employer? Will they find out from the extra tax I will be paying? Thanks.

Me and another chap on the forum have worked with them through another company
  18. Oi James! When you next up our way? Mr wolfs....
  19. Yea Tony! 14 hour days certainly bumps up the wages
  20. My boss paid for the chipper hire and their company bought the chip off us so it reduced the initial chipper hire by a vast amount, they sorted out all the artics and didn't mind the green, however as the chip was fresh and green they paid slightly less per tonne, I think it was somewhere in the region of £10 per tonne. In some circumstances with enough chip you wouldn't be paying any amount for the chipper hire.
  21. I didn't vote as I've only 4 years under my belt but i suffer numbness in my third finger right down to the knuckle in summer and winter, I struggle to tie my own shoe laces sometimes or even grip a pencil, not good.
  22. He would have chipped it all in one day but there wasn't another lorry available so he stayed in a B & B and returned in the morning. Worked flat out all day, brilliant machine.
