  1. Brilliant to slab then build on the spot - yet to have been able to do that myself yet.
  2. Yep - it will be in the hundreds value wise... if it was the best colour, tiny sapwood and no shake then possibly max £500-00.... but that's around a 1 in every 500 tree. But with walnut there are plenty of people everywhere that will tell you 'it's worth a fortune!' - quite simply unless you had a 100% burr or heavily rippled or similar it won't be worth thousands £. Post some pics up as you come to mill it!
  3. They are quite unique the bars that logosol run in that they are 3/8" lo pro .050 and 36" long. Stihl and oregon as far as I am aware do not have these bars full stop ie. they have the 3/8 .050 but the 3/8" is standard 3/8" not 3/8" lo pro. Also the Stihl lo pro ripping chain that goes with the set up -again very hard to source - not available in the UK. A lo pro set up milling does not save as much kerf as you may think - but it prob is faster than a standard set up.
  4. No prob - yep they are cracking tools - although as you start to look at turning larger timber you need to place the hook more...
  5. Deal of the week from chainsawbars.co.uk This deal will end midnight sunday 11th May 2014. The sugihara dime tip bars come in 10", 12" and 14" - and are priced at £70+vat, £72+vat and £74+vat respectively. They have a universal mount which means they will fit and work on virtually any small chainsaw. This offer is more aimed at those who want to give carving a go with the smallest tip carving bars - dime tips - and this deal gives you the whole kit you need to get going. So what's the offer? It's a good one! Buy any of the bundle deals here Products for the category: Special Offers And for the cost of the carving bar you will get - the 1/4" drive sprocket, a new bearing, a stihl 1/4" carving chain and oregon 1/4" full feature carving chain FREE! saving around £60+vat! A full carving set up for the cost of the bar! For the smaller 3.2mm and 3.5mm files go here Products for the category: Round files and for the Stihl 1/4" filing pouch go here Products for the category: Sharpening pouches A few points: 12" dimes are the most popular - hence this bundle is more expensive offer ends strictly midnight Sunday 11th May I have a good few of all the sprockets - but it may be there will be a wait for your bundle to come if I need to get more sprockets in If you have another smaller saw not listed let me know and if possible the same bundle deal will be offered - the bars tend to fit any saw but it can be tricky finding a 1/4" drive sprocket Useful vids on changing the drive sprocket and info on the chains - they are not exciting vids so try not to doze off!
  6. It is down as delivered but scan only - should have been left somewhere at your address. Have e-mailed you all tracking details.
  7. Let me have a look for it Andy as I'm sure I remember sending yours out....
  8. I think you'll like it - I need to sit down with it and work out exactly what goes where clip size of when you strap it to a tree for smaller diameter pieces... When you have someone loading someone cutting it makes for easy efficient work
  9. Could you not sharpen on the bar using a 12v grinder and a bit of a reach around? Products for the category: 12 volt grinders
  10. Nice Tom - was the elm down in Cornwall? That's a good size!
  11. Good point - thanks for all replies will try insoles first then go and try a few pairs of the scruffs on.
  12. People love the small tip but as above I have had x4 back out of x20 with split tips which is not good. That's not to say wasted money as all x4 of these were warranty replaced and to be fair the manufacturer is going to back these and also look at improving their processes - it just looks like the weld at the very tip needs strengthening.
  13. Ha ha! it's too long to get in the search boxes without them looking too cluttered! But if you click on the product it's all there. Or the chain selector has the bars and then next box shows the chains.
  14. They look pretty good as well - particularly like the rotary nob! - jewsons etc stock the scruffs - may go and try some on...
  15. Thanks - googled them and they look good!
  16. I need to get some trainer style steel toe caps - last pair I got off the internet seemed ok but after wearing them a few hours my knees started hurting! Seems a lot of choice out there - anyone got any good recommendations?
  17. Great transformation from a grotty piece of wood to beautiful sculpture
  18. Hi Chris -good point you make - the 3/8 drive sprocket would run each type of chain fine - 7mm tensioner hole should cause no problems. The slot on the mid range Stihl saws is 12mm. The slot on mid range (and larger) Husky saws is 9mm. So you can always get a larger slot on smaller bar mounts using springs or spacers but not the other way round. The only other way is if the Stihl mounting studs have a flange - so you can remove these and replace with 8mm or 9mm studs - that would work. But I have no Stihl saws to test that - perhaps someone else could? I only have an MS880 and MS192 in the Stihl club these days....
  19. Try not to mill absolutely everything that is 8"+ in diameter get fed up and pack your mill away never to see daylight again!
  20. That's because they match the T shirt - never too young to accessorise!
  21. Good stuff let me know what you think - I had a play yesterday and for moving lumps of log around they are brilliant! Makes it easy - any person with a firewood processor should have one! But interested to see how people get on with them...
  22. As Bob said if you're looking to go for an MS660 in the near future... If you were just going to stick with the MS362 and 20" bar then small log mill would have been best.
