  1. Hmmm.... You should quantify that coment really and say 'In your opinion the risk is too great' We are not asking people to test this from the point of view of it's safety - only it's performance. If we felt it was at all unsafe we would not sell it. How do you know Husqvana have gone to great lengths to analyse and test their chain? Because they advertise that? It may well be true and they did - but I hope they did a better job than they did with their bars.... The factories we sourced this from have been making chain for around 10 years. We viewed their testing equipment and their manufacturing process. It looks sound. I do get where you're coming from - from a H&S point of view if there was an accident we have to prove due diligence in sourcing our products. We have done this. And we have done far more (I expect) than others that are selling Chinese chain. It's not a new thing - Chinese chain has been available for years and easily bought here in the UK - some of it was/is probably sub standard. From the checks we have made ours is not.
  2. Ok - change that to I don't they will be as good in the short term. I suppose anything is possible long term Oregon and Stihl have the tech and financial muscle to always stay ahead of the game. So as Chinese chain improves - so the big manufactuers will also improve.
  3. Not seen those rods before - have bought some to try. We are working on our own first cut system for the Alaskan which will also run a mini mill type set up. We have a prototype - taking it from a working prototype into production will take us many months though...
  4. Not that your prejudiced right? Look - it's your choice whether or not you want to try a cheaper chain. If you feel there is more risk involved and you are unsure of the product then don't buy it - simples. No one is forcing you to. We have visited the factories, we have seen the production, we have seen the quality control - these places have made chain for a long time. But they will never be (in the short term certainly) the same quality as Stihl and Oregon.
  5. In China there are firms who make a good product - but plenty more that don't. We are have not just pulled names out of a hat for this chain - these are amoung the best and most consistant chain producers. We have an understanding of which companies in China produce which chain under which brand. You can tell us what the chain is like to use Chinese chain will be a much bigger player in the market in times to come.
  6. Also have a look at Shipley Alec. Shiply / Shipley - Courier Services & UK Delivery Service Companies
  7. Apologies in that case - when did you send one? Usually we are pretty on the ball but maybe it got missed. If you could re send or send me a PM on here.
  8. A lot of what comes out of China is rubbish granted... but a lot is not bad quality if sourced correctly. We will just be giving people the choice - and of course we'll still supply the best and well established brands as well. But to be competitive we have to also start looking to China if only to offer the choice of a cheaper version.
  9. Yep that's an idea - we still have plenty of chain left so this could be the next offer.
  10. Welcome - hope some work comes your way
  11. Possibly could do that later. We only got a reel of each of these chains in. We're not looking to necessarily stock these particular brands. The idea is to get these sold and then you lot can feedback about if they are good or not. So doing vids and timings etc we would do once we have which chain type people seem to find the best.
  12. Quite a few orders already - but mainly just for x1 drive link of chain! You do need to add how many drive links of chain you want or go through the selector to get the right length chain.
  13. Bit dramatic but fair enough.
  14. They may well be rubbish - you can tell us!
  15. We visited a few factories in China that make chain. Of course they all extol the virtues of their own chain citing using German steel, the best grind geometry, less stretch etc etc etc. We are going to start stocking a few lines - tell us what you think of them. We want good solid honest feedback. If you give a then we will look to stocking that brand long term. will mean that chain will be discontinued. Only available at www.chainsawbars.co.uk. Find in selector here or in the custom chain area here. Anyways - we have x7 sizes of chain on offer - they are almost half the price of our Oregon chains. But so that we can get a good few out and gauge feedback here is an offer: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE on all MAYA and CH chain Offer expires midnight Sunday Limited stock - first come first served We want a good spread of feedback so very large orders may be reduced... but we'll see what the take up is first. We aim to satisfy all orders big and small
  16. I have a pair of Stein werewolfs which look really good but so uncomfortable for me - can only wear for 2 hours max - they will be going on ebay!

    Tiny echo!

Yep 1/4 .050 I would imagine - and the 1/4 .050 is a completely different beast to the 1/4 .043. Stihl have nailed it with this chain IMO and have to take credit for it.

    Tiny echo!

Have you tried the 1/4 .043 chain Wolter? Yes you need a smaller file but the cut is very fast and clean. It is more fiddly to sharpen though.
  19. Have not tried but I'd say yes and offer a return if they did not.

    Tiny echo!

He is thinking 3/8 lo pro .043 not 1/4 .043 which is what you want. Husky def don't have this chain. Your options are a Stihl bar (with an extra drive link) or a Sugihara bar with Sugi chain. You would also need to change the drive sprocket to 1/4.
  21. Diamond stone runs cooler on the tooth and is a lot more efficient. Not sure about the power consumption but that is not really a concern - it's more the other style stones lose shape and then you don't get quite the same grind. These diamond stones will last for a very long time.
  22. Hmmm - tricky Steve cause depends on so many factors. I tend to think after 4 to 5 planks you need to tickle the chain - but I have done half a day with the saw still cutting beautifully. There just is no answer I'm afraid - just too many damn variables!
  23. Hmm no one knows yet! I suppose because you'd usually only do x1 sharpen at a time... but metal may be hit soon which should get some answers to this question!
  24. Thanks Si - I'll add your comments to the powerpack description.
