  2. My sentiments exactly - the real winners are the children!
  3. That’s a sweet pile of firewood to leave for the gardeners.
  4. Sorry to hear about your bad news. Maybe we should lobby our self appointed representing body (Arb Association) and insurance companies into putting pressure on the police to investigate all these thefts – They seem too common to be unrelated.

  6. Yes, familiarise yourself with as many desiccated examples of fungi as you possibly can. Even better – collect as many species as you can, travel back in time (approx 10 years) then shove then at the back of your garage, fast forward to a week before your test, re-familiarise yourself with the shrivelled up examples in front of you – then you’ll be well prepared! You’ll pass, easy.
  7. There may well be, a trowel round the base of the tree would soon tell me.
  8. It’ll tell me the extent of decay on the underside of some of the main supporting roots. It’ll defiantly give me more information than doing nothing, and a trowel is considerably less expensive than an air-spade. I’m not to bothered about the fine roots as I wouldn’t be excavating in that area anyway.
  9. Need a little more info than that in order to advise you. Some B roads are wider than others, how busy is it? Is it on a bend or a straight? Can you post a picture? If in doubt, contact highways.
  10. Or excavate selected roots with a trowel.
  11. Not you - Him! Left a daughter Fatherless.

  18. Its Just the way FaceBook do the dates on their events page. Its on over two days, Friday and Saturday. Friday is always busy, as you tend to get a lot of the guys from Arb companies having a day out. Saturday is also just as busy but with more families etc.. Camping (or the lack of it) was an issue last year, but this was down to the land owner and not the AA.
  19. Excellent pics Simon! Did you take that picture as that big mother’ landed? (looks like you were pretty close). Isn’t it lovely standing round with a camera!
