  1. Point taken they are a bit thin on the sole if your chogging down, but when I was on the powerlines fultime they were the business for long walks with your kit along the lines. Only had one pair that didn't last the year but that was due to 12 months on ballast on the railways.
  2. Have all sorts from the ugly grow on there own sthil brown thru to haix, but these babies are the dogs, had several pairs and always seem to get about a year out of them. Like climbing in slippers:001_tongue:
  3. Any clues, or are you keeping us all in suspense:sneaky2:
  4. a friend has one of these on his 88, he as trapped it several times to the point where you think it would be knackered, but it still looks as striaght as dye and cuts as good as when it was first used:thumbup1:
  5. I am not to sure of all the results, but the top 3 were Oakwick Utiity arborists 1st West Coast energy 2nd Fountains c 3rd. we put a team in for the first time from Poletecs and came 8th. Brockwell Forestry came last but fair play they had never been before and it is quite daunting to start with. I have entered 5 times now 4 of those with fountains. We have some photos from this year to post just waiting for them to be emailed.

  9. Are you looking for subbies
  10. Went to the afternoon session, should of been longer on each section in my opinion. But even if it had been there would probably be no difference in the answers and as for the folder contents the majority was old hat really:thumbdown:
  11. yes, i am using it as part of a work book for inhouse refresher courses.
  12. small hamlet called oliver just before gilling west, if your coming from richmond it is on your left as you cross the bridge just after the row of cottages.
  13. :thumbup1:Cheers for putting that up Mr Ed. Bloody computers beyond me at times:confused1:
  14. Sorry for been late with this reply(about a year). Hope it reads ok, I use when inducting new staff or carrying out inhouse trainingaccident2.xls
  15. Ok brain picking time again, I am going to be taking part in the AUS Utility Skills Comp at the AA Conferance in september. Now each year this same issue raises its ugly head. When climbing up into the tree you must use two life lines when asscending e.g one of the lines is there as a back up if the other fails. Now I was still lead to believe :confused1:that you could climb up on your life line e.g one rope using a friction hitch, but once you were in the tree and in a position to carry out your work you must be tied in twice with both anchor points been load bearing. The rules say to look at the work at hieght regs for guidance but I can not find anything relating to arb, only rope access in general.
  16. Chainsaw wounds by the look of the damage, bin it if I were you.
  17. It is my 7th anniverary the 25th august and my birthday the day after, we lived together for 7 years before that, best move yet marrige but believe me the speech is nerve racking and word of warning check the best mans speech before hand.
  18. Left in passenger seat of morris minor van while mother went into the local shop which was on a very steep bank released handbreak and van hurtled to it's final destination about 400yds at the bottom of the bank upside down, seat folded over saving me been thrown out of it. aged 18 months father turned his back on me for to long in the yard, I decided to get on to the freshly painted tin roof only to slide down and luckily catch my feet in the guttering, rescued with triple extension ladder by parents and banned from the yard by my mother, don't know who got the bigger bollocking me or my dad. aged 10. first allday drinking session on a boxing day dropped of by the bigger bad boys, staggered into house and preceded to relieve my aching bladder on the brand new ferguson tv infront of suprise visitors (gran mother aunty and uncle) initail shock over then thrown into cold shower by father, he did say the look on my granmothers face was priceless years later.
  19. Now then I am probably opening a tin of worms hear but hear goes, on site today and was informed by somebody that you can not have screw gate karabiners in any part of your climbing system and in best practice should not be used at all on site. I was under the impression that it was not best practice to use them on yuor life line or strop, but was still the climbers decision:confused1:
  20. Are the art of deception, no I am about 6foot but i had just put the bike back together after driving home from a ride:001_tongue:
  21. Is the bike full carbon, I ride the poor mans version ocr2:001_tt1:
  22. Very nice finished product Mr Brown, Still no joy from my man with the rope but I will keep trying it will be ideal for the machine.
  23. close, just short of 2 1/2 ton, couldn't believe it first time I have worked with a crane that could weigh it's load but then again as i say it had been a while since the last one I did.
  24. I'll second that. When you have a good groundman and your both on the same wavelength it makes the job so much easier as you anticipate each others moves. Just being half a step in front having the right bit of kit or a rope ready for the climber before being asked' date=' watching the other side of the tree and the nose of the bar when your slicing off a large section to save your changing position, even having the combi can there ready at the bottom of the tree because he could hear the top handle starting to run a bit lean, and lots of other small things make all the difference to a days work. Plus he can even make sure you top the conifers off nice and level![/quote'] and he remembers to put the oil cap back on your 0200 properly he should be knighted:001_tongue:
