  2. Harness questions are big at the mo so answer this. Should I replace my Butterfly 1 with a rigid seat with a Dragonfly, or should I get a Butterfly II and transfer the seat over? The end ( of the financial year ) is nigh!

  7. 250 metres from my front door was an oak that had no TPO. The owners wanted to remodel their drive and access as they had to reverse cars onto a blind bend to get out. On a weekend they managed to take the branches off but left the trunk 12" across and 8' high. By the end of the week their pollard was TPO'd. It took an appeal and a report from a Health and Safety consultant to get permission to remove the stump and move their drive to a safer position.
  8. There is nothing new about using hidden ground anchors for pot grown or large net/wire rootballed stock. I would have thought you have done this before. I have seen schemes where trees where anchored to sleepers and concrete buried below the trees rootball. platypus is installed slightly differently. I have the proper tools for platypus and used them on only one tree.( 20' Salix contorta we moved accross a garden) The rootball needs to be dense but timber spreaders can be laid on the top of the rootball.
  9. I thought inbreeding was your soloution
  10. like a wet weekend away in the brecon beacons:wave:
  11. People always remark on how they remembered the roof luggage box on the truck,
  12. This avant needed me to stand on the back when we loaded the lengths of butt . The owner also has a brash grab.
  13. electricians insulation tape is not OK. It has sticky stuff full of chemicals that may weaken your rope. If you must use tape only use it on the cut end. Your weight will never be loading on the last inch of rope.
  14. I have 2 pairs or boots that I select between. 1. SIP brown , stiff and ideal for spiking or big climbs. 2. Aquafell expert, soft and light, ideal on the ground , poor for spiking because the straps cross the heel insert and cut in. Neither have any real waterproof qualities after a year.
  15. Not exactly original recordings but classic. [ame= ] [/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V9xFWQjoAs]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V9xFWQjoAs[/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame]
  16. Some students home made video for UFO "too hot to handle" [ame= ] [/ame]
  17. In many cases in the UK situation several small drops are faster than one big drop. Its safer , takes less time to rig and is more easily cleared on the landing. Climbers are usually only concerned with getting wood down fast ,not the speed of the whole job start to finish.
  18. Put me down for topping.
  19. Back to basics. 85% of arb work done in the UK is old school, and if it aint broke don't fix it is their attitude. Many firms have no idea what a VT or a portawrap or an ascendeur are. They are moving from horse and cart to petrol power and you want to tell them about space travel. Good solid and safe work practicies, basics of equipment and minimums for aerial rescue. Hazzard awareness. There is no point making the job more complicated with " shiny gizmos" when many firms think the 3 way karabiner is cutting edge. Environmental and conservation concerns. Bats , bollards and bio oil.
  20. I go with tree services. tree care sounds like you never cut the tree down just massage it a bit . putting 3 counties or countrywide or similar in the title makes you sound like a traveller.
  21. I thought they shut and that was it. Possibly they need some virgin fibre to mix with the recycled material and some longn term contracts for supply are still running. Looks like it was only the hardwood going to sudbrook that closed, having looked at the st Regis website.
  22. ? Hey Mr have you built a time machine to take you back in time to st.Regis before it shut.
  23. probably not if its welded in the corners
  24. Almost without exception, all here would know that with all the training and PPE in the world sad events like this are half a second way.
  25. watch the 3rd one
