  1. I am Looking to get a rustic style bench carved for my mother for xmas. She lost her partner to pneumonia about 16 months ago. He was a bird lover ( esp birds of prey ). I am looking to get a rustic style bench with maybe a falcon sitting on the back of it. also a plaque made up with his name and details on the bench. Must be good quality timber as i would like it to last. I would also like a detailed job done of the falcon etc. I am located in Glasgow..but can travel to come pick it up. Feel free to call me to discuss. 07872.147.453 / 0141.891.8724 Martyn
  2. I knew a tree surgeon who got bumped for $1500. ( usa ) one day the when driving past he saw the costumer was getting a new driveway down...as far as i know he was going to go dump few containers of oil all over the new driveway....oh Revenge is sweet!
  3. Maybe you mis-read..he is getting it for a load of firewood. Sounds like a great deal.
  4. 60 Metre. 4inch slat fence. 8m of that is 6ft high. 52 of that is 4ft high. 2 gates to be made. The site shall be ready for us ..old fence took down. access is good. Nothing in the way.
  5. just quoted a fence job - Materials - 1700. Wages - 450. = 2250. quoted at 3650 profit of 1400 over 4 days ( 350 per day ) Good or bad ?
  6. Cheers mate. I was going to use post crete..but whatever does the best job is what i am interested in. No Haven't got canter yet..was going to get finance..but just going to save up cash. don't like having more bills every month. Looking at new Iveco's ( 150bhp ) or landrover tippers now.
  7. Much to learn. Thanks for all the info.
  8. Why they burn you timber! assholes Its rare i come across good timber for milling..had took down a lovely ,large and straight cherry about year ago and didn't have alaskan mill then..wasn't happy cutting it into discs on site. This time i am going to make sure i got a mill. First time doing this so will have to research more about drying timber etc. cheers
  9. Doh! Yeah sorry..got lazy while writing post. I know it will mill! i am not planning to sell wood and its a nice piece so firewood would be a waste if its good for funiture making. Not planning to sell the millied timber ( will be cutting it on site ) just wondering if its any good for making tables etc. Is it good to for that? cheers
  10. i will chack out Stewert timber. I Suppose it will be be cheaper with trade account.
  11. thanks. Yeah i thought 3000 for spending 1500 sounded abiout right. just seems hell of expensive for a fence. The outlay is far more than tree work. so feels risky to start with. Do you ask for 50% of payment up front?
  12. Started doing fencing recently as i am trying to expand business. Done a few fences in the past. but went and priced materials for 60m fence the other day..very expensive. Just wondering how to price for it. lets say i spend 1500 on materials and 300 on wages... thats 1800. I wouldn't want to spend 1800 to make 400 quid as thats just not worth it. Any advice?
  13. Removing ash tree next week. Its a large straight piece. Wondering if its any good for milling ? Also is birch any good?
  14. its what i do when callus get to big from weight training and work. it works wonders
  15. He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?"" Nah , she can order for herself." Lol.
  16. don't bother with Gloves. Just put you hands in hot oil and rub of callus with sand paper. Its better for your hands. .
  17. spoke to a costumer yeersteday. her friend in glasgow ( o.a.p ) had her trees cut by 4 irish blokes in silver van. the took half day to do small trees ..charged her 500 and vanished leaving all the debris in her garden. She has photo of them working..going to try to get hold of it next week and post it on here..i think she said she had photo of the van also.
  18. strech airs are good..if you are climbing often though, wouldn't say they are good for walking though. the are not very flexable. though they will last you long time.
  19. haaaaaaaaaaaaha.!!! That was awesome. what a bunch of spanners.
  20. nice job.....but ..HELMET! HELMET! where is your dam Helmet! NO EXCUSES.
  21. could be. the are not really mature though. The trees around them are not so big..and they seem to have enough area for sunlight. Maybe climate change has got a fair bit to do with it. they say spiders are surviving longer this year and are getting bigger..there is def some climate shift happenning. fell and re-plant would be good idea...but i am sure the costumer would rather try to save them first. I told the costumer to post on here..as i had no idea why the were dying. I will take a trip out there and take better pics when i can..would be great if someone on here can help.
  22. just hope the got groin guards on . [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HT-sYnGILE]YouTube - Crazy Chinese Poles INSANITY[/ame]
  23. yeah maybe giving a good punding would be bad idea...but it sure would make you feel better.
  24. 130 per tipper load. ( 1 ton ) I have got good idea of what 1 ton is on back of my van..so it may be a little under or over. There is high demand for firewood lately..so i am sure i can bump up my price a bit.
  25. Nice one. Though you should have beat the hell out of them...teach them a lesson...or they will keep on stealing.
