  1. Where abouts in Aberdeenshire.? I grew up in Insch and worked for guys around that area. I know couple good climbers up there.
  2. I have Gecko Aluminium. Very comfortable. But come Carbon fibre is taking it to far. What next chainsaws with fricken Lazer beams!
  3. 2 Climber looking to do about 1 months contract work abroad around december time. We are both fully qualified climbers / come with full kit . e.g all saws . lowering gear / own climbing gear etc etc. We shall also take out personal insurance to cover ourselfs. ideal would be Germany / Denmark / France / but willing to go anywhere. Work slowing down for myself and subbie climber i employ so looking for and also looking to go do some hard climbing for a month. We will most likely drive from u.k so we can take all our kit. Please Pm me if you need climbers. Martyn
  4. Don't take it so personal! Just think it is funny all this hi-tech gizmos nowadays. ..sometimes people just take it a bit too far..carbon fibres spikes. lol Start doing leg exercises if you find your legs heavy in the tree.
  5. good job. Eucs are great trees to work on. Done plenty of them in cali and couldn't get enough of them
  6. 85kg on a good day 80kg on a bad day ( after a few long hard days work )
  7. I have same boots and spikes as yourself. gecko spikes fit the klima airs perfect.
  8. Its not me for sure! i pay good .
  9. no..but if you are over 14 stone..its a bit pointless... climber wearing feather weight spikes while being 15 stone and 066 hanging from harness.
  10. how much do you weigh?
  11. if things were that simple i would have couple k.o's under my belt.
  12. The art of climbing!
  13. NAH. I wouldn't try to hurt someone over it. i have learnt from acting like that in the past. gets you know where. Can you tell me one thing though...if i call them everday to chase up payment ..is that harassment?
  14. Ok i got cheque through post for 260 today. ( not the 380 quoted ) They have also sent me letter saying until i trim the laurel hedge and reduce the willow i will not be payed full amount...NON OF THIS WAS ON THE QUOTE! now i am thinking should i keep the cheque...and go give them a load of heavy timber on driveway.? Or send it back and take them to small claims? Knew someone who got acid put all over there bmw because they pissed someone off. ..gets me thinking!
  15. i do prefer cheque as i am still building up my business..and i spend most my money buying new tools etc. Though cash is always good when i have groundies out who i am paying with cash.
  16. felled a couple large ash trees today. costumer tells me he got quote from guy who turned up to do last job with kids helping out. the guy quoted him 3000. I quoted him 700 and done.. it was easy..just felling them and leaving them. 3 guys 1 easy day. 500 profit. Makes you think though...some people will pay that much...and maybe our skills are worth that much. Though there will always be assholes who think we are just ' wood cutters ' and want us to do it for beer money.
  17. thats my inbox cleared. :)

  18. there was no waste removal . everything is left on site. All debris left on site was written on quotation. wish i had took debris away though as i could have reason to dump load on the driveway
  19. well i like all the advice given. I think i shall wait 2 weeks till and if they only want to pay me the 260. then fine i'll take it, but i will scare them first and let them think i will take them to small claims...after that i will think of some type of payback. though the balaklava and baseball bat will have to stay in truck.
  20. I claim working tax credit. If you claim any benifits then you don't have to pay any lawyer fees etc. Just found that out! The costumer is going to get letter through door on wed...i will take him to small claims court..and with a legal quotation he will have to pay up.
  21. Yeah i have copy. I have edited a little to make it more professional. Will do ..thanks for advice.
  22. just finnshed typing out letter. what do you think? I am writing in regards to the outstanding Payment of £380 For work completed on the 24/09/09. I have completed all the work that is written on quote I have sent a contractor out to do any work that we may have missed. To my understanding you would like to pay me to sum of £260. I can not accept this as I will not make any profit from the work completed. Please note that the quotation is a legal document and i shall only carry out the work that is written on it. If you would like more tree work carried out I can give you another quote for this work at a fair price. Please pay in full before the 14/11/09 or I shall issue a county court claim against you. Yours Sincerely Martyn Grant P.s. Please find another copy of invoice attached. Tree:tment Tree Surgeons
  23. I Have only been in business for 2 years so i am new to all the legal side of things. i prefer to deal with things in an old skool way.
  24. I done a job for costumer about 1 month ago. Medium size job . 3 men on site full day. I done a very good job for them and completed everything on the written quote. They called me and said that i did not trim a couple of trees for them ..that they asked for ( they didn't ) and said they will not pay! The trees that they asked me to trim was not on the quote and they did not ask me to do the extra work when i went out and gave price. we went back out there to make sure we done verything on the quote.. job completed?...No! they call me back saying that there is other trees that need trimmed and will not pay till its done ( all this not on quote ). The job is for 380. I have paid 200/ and had a long shift doing job. What can i do? small claims court? Assholes!
  25. Looks real good. Must get good satisfaction out of woodturning. My Grandfather has a woodturner sitting in his basement...he done it for years..so i am thinking about going around to pick his brain. Would like to get into it myself. great skill you have there.
