  1. I don't no what experience you have but in general it frightens me all the "fresh out of college" or "decide new career change" people who are going out and going self employed straight away. Even the most experienced of us have near misses, or serious accidents. It's just not worth going it alone unless you know what you're doing. I'm all up for training and getting experience but imo everyone needs to get time served with another company. :thumbup1: I agree with Ian there. Need experience before you start working as subbie. Ask yourself this. - do you feel comfortable tackling most jobs? from prunings, and big removals to site clearance work If the anser is yes..save up buy a van and all your tools and start advertising. Your skills are good and employers are after a guy like you. If the answer is no..then you will have to serve your time like everyone else has and learn the trade. Subbing for company's is hard work and even the best of climbers find it hard going.
  2. Is you landy 6x6 still for sale mate? i am interested.

  3. how long you been doing tree work for? If you want to work as subbie..get on the phone to tree surgeon companys. ( sell yourself )
  4. Demonstration movie of Tree Jack Stalpen not sure of it myself. i think i would prefer wedges. Can't me much use if ground is boggy.
  5. send me pics and i will think about it.

  10. Ok cheers. Miles are higher than what i am looking for....but what you after for it?

    Is it a tipper?

  11. thanks for all the advice. Looks like landys are good if i am doing a lot of work in the country. transits good for the city. Though there is just somethings about landy's that suck you in..so will prob start looking. I am after a 130. tipper...with storage foir saws etc. roof rack. budget 7,000..but could go up to 9,000 depending.
  12. interested in the landy. whats the milage? Martyn

  13. cheers. doesn't look like i could be the same. But e-mailed supplier for confirmation
  14. so you telling me with a large branch with a lot of weight on it..you are going to put a deep under cut in?! don't you think you will get your saw jammed.? doh! very good video..but all I am saying is i would have put a mouth in those big bits or took a bit of weight off the ends. I am sure there are lots of mistakes i make when climbing..and i don' t mind if i get told i am doing something wrong / better way to do it as it makes you a safer better climber.
  15. must have missed it. great if someone could give me link to it.
  16. how..? same thing cutting big branch with lot of weight on it...using step cut..
  17. Just on sherrills site. saw the post for the ring recall. I ordered rings about 5 months ago. the look exactly like the ones that got recalled. Product Recall says they can snap easily.
  18. I have seen it couple times and its happened to myself ( i was just being lazy also )
  19. 10/10 Very Good website. Contact details are clear and you see them straight away. Pics of firewwod that wil be sold also. Good website..can't fault it
  20. mmm..correct me if i'm wrong. lot of weight on a long heavy branch ..if you use a step cut there is a change that it will catch your saw. there was one clip there where it peeled and could have caught your saw...even if you keep cutting. Could have nipped out half way and dropped a bit of weight off first. ( contructive criticism ) Good job though. got it done fast.
  21. Very nice! Whats the milage?
  22. gave the bloke a call who was selling 8.800 Landrover ..says its gone.
  23. Not after new Landrover Mr Ed.
