1. Windsor chain is no longer available, so whatever is left in the marketplace is the last of it. I note that our 73DP has been noticed a semi chisel chain with the ability to keep its edge longer due to the curve on the working corner, this also is more forgiving when filed a little inaccurate. Speeds are slightly slower than LPX full chisel but overall speed will be higher as it stays sharp longer, 3/8 058 or 1.5mm chain available from all Oregon stockists give a loop a try to see. Oregon and Carlton are both brands owned and manufactured by Blount [as was Windsor before it was closed]
2. Oregon have semi synthetic oil and mineral oil the synthetic oil is a 50.1 mix and I've never had any problems with it. All Oregon oils meet and exceed industry standards. There are 100's of dealers using Oregon oil apparently they must all be wrong then ?
3. In 12 years I have never had any problems with Oregon two stroke oil from any of my 100's of dealers I look after, I ran three Moto X bikes on it for several years with no problems. Don't believe all you hear try it for yourself we have mineral oil for older machines and semi synthetic low smoke oil for modern high revving machines and its dyed red so you can identify straight away.
4. For that money i'd want the serial number in advance to check out on the register, if its straight it will be no problem.
5. Call John Miller machinery Corsham ask for Steve Miller he may be able to help you or give you a name of one of his local tree teams that have chippers 01249 652573
6. Try Mansell Griffiths or JL Harris both good old Solo dealers in Wales they might e able to help you, i contacted one of my old Solo colleagues who has pot/piston and other bits for a Rex but alas no bar, you can say Les from Oregon sent you via Barry Reekie, we are both ex Solo and Barry worked for Minok in Tovil back in the day
7. I would ask for a demo of these [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKwOZP9ETRU]PSD Groundscare AS Motor AS 65 Allmäher HD - YouTube[/ame] They have a large range range of machines for all applications AS Motor from PSD groundcare:thumbup:
8. 38cc normally had a 16" bar, most parts still available from Simmonds Saws Petworth Sussex [The original McCulloch spares importer] Tel 01428 707269 I launched this domestic homeowner saw back in about 1986 when i worked for the UK importer. Great little reliable home owner saw and well priced. Ask Simmonds Saws they probably still have new ones in stock as they bought lorry loads Ask for Peter Simmonds and tell him Les sent you
9. Hi Spud, New saw chains are from Bournemouth, the company registered in the IOM but who ships from Carlisle is Chainsaw chains.eu . Les

.404 to 3/8

The chain is 72LPX = large 3/8 tooth .050 [1.3mm] drive link years back most saws ran this chain, today only old Mculloch and Echo saws are fitted with this and as bars get harder to find most users change to 73LPX/DPX on 1.5mm 0.58 guage. Les
14. No, only from Harvester chain distributors Blount UK Ltd [Oregon] doesn't sell Harvester chain anymore to normal dealers. Two I know of are Clarkes Dumfries and A&B services Killeen, both are harvester chain distributors, there may be more. Les PS count the number of drive links and look for the number on the drive link this will determine if it is 16H or 18HX chain then drive link count.

Dolmar

G Doling in Cumbria had some CC CA and CT parts, not sure if they are still there now. PJ Barrow in Cowfold Sussex has quite a few Dolmar parts maybe some for CC model. I see one every now and then in chainsaw dealers across the country and I do know where there is another being built up in Shropshire, if I see any i'll pm the dealers numbers for you. Les
16. Hi your 5105 is a more powerful saw so copes better with 20LPX chain which is not narrow kerf, 95VPX chain has a lower profile tooth and is approx 2mm narrower than the standard .325 tooth as on 20/21/22. This chain can be used on saws up to 55cc and has shown great results when used on Stihl 026/MS260/261 as it gives approx 10% faster cutting speed. Give a loop of 95VPX a try as you should have an .050 bar and .325 set up already. Let us know how you get on It will be the same link count as your 20LPX so 95VPX E Les
17. Yes you can get a large tooth 20BPX or 20LPX but on this saw it will slow it down to much. Narrow kerf helps a lower power output saw perform better. Les
18. Hi Liam You need 95VPX064E chain and a 3/16 file kit to sharpen all the major sponsors on here stock that so you can get that easy. This is a narrow kerf .325 pitch chain with 1.3mm [.050] guage, width drive link. It's my job to know these things mate Les
19. Nice collection, what haven't you got ? a solo twin ? a wright reciprocator ? I can find most saw given time. Les:biggrin:
20. Take your saw to the nearest Oregon dealer see OREGON®: Public and see dealer locator, they can look at the bar mount as spud says and decide what will fit. I have never heard of neilson in all my years in the industry [1980] onwards just shows you can learn something new, put a pic up on here for all to see
21. see DOLMAR - 80 years DOLMAR that's 1927 first petrol powered saw Stihl electric 1926 and Stihl petrol 1929
22. Emil Lerp invented and tested the first portable chainsaw in Germany and tested it on mount Dolmar and then a few years later Stihl put their first portable saw into the market. This was always argued between Dolmar and Stihl, when I worked for Sachs Dolmar it was part of our presentation. prior to that there were several large saws on frames using scratcher chain. Then in 1947 Joe Cox watched some wood beetles whilst having a sarnie and Oregon Chain was born [who I work for now 11yrs +]
23. A quick heads up to all that the show is on Friday20th , Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd this week. Wealden Woodfair has lots for all, including the family, all things wood, demo's displays, trade stands with shiny bits for all, Yurts, teepees, woodworking, carving and more. A very relaxed show in a nice place. see Woodfair - Bentley Country Park Hope to see some Arbtalkers there. Les
24.
How did you get on mate ?

25. The 100 series saws, mini mac, 100, 110, 120 and 130 were known as bucket saws and were £79.99 retail homeowner saws, simple design there are many still in use today, less is more. The Mac 6 was in a different class, compare its power against a modern saw !
