  2. i use the metolius rock rings, awesome bits of kit and great for rock climbing too. also good if you travel alot they pack down small and can be uased anywhere.
  3. depends if you are in swden and where abouts? moving soon
  4. fair point cheers. i like the bd gear too but i mostly see people using petzl or kongs. cheers for the info though may need to have a closer look.
  5. thats funny ive seen the same thing it was on the petzl small swivel i think its mainly the black one. back to the srt has anyone used one of the black diamond ascenders at all they look really nice but i havent tried one in a rig.
  6. i never useually go to the cinema but the missis persuaded me and i was absolutley taken by the film it was simply fantastic and would reccomend anyone to go see it.
  7. i love the pi and variants and have also used the tachyon but am now settled on the pi in the aussie format. with the size issue i find that it feels like i grip better in my hand on the smaller lines maybe its because i can twist the rope a little in my hand and get more purchase but its a hellishly good climb, if you dont own a piece and dont want to spend the wedge then see if you can borrow a piece and have a play, well worth it if you ask me.
  8. ill find the book i saw it in pete and send u the details but it is possible, never bothered my self its just easier to srt and u dont have to paralell lines.
  9. it is installable from the ground but it isnt retrieveable, its not to hrd to do you can find the way to do it in a rigging manual when people have installed blocks and slings from the ground. cant remember exactly what book it is in but i saw it a while ago and it would work with a art, like rupe said get a art rig or get footlocking and go set it yourself. by the time you have set up your rope guide from the ground you could have set up srt rig and be at the top doing it yourself. goodluck
  10. yer bro worked in stockholm, adelaide and melbourne, got a bit coming up in kiwi and another stint in sweden fingers crossed. what ya wanna know? cold this time of yr and you wont get so much pruning most of the work is takedowns but the summer is the time to go.
  11. black and grey, you sound exciting!
  12. just read the instructions mate, i learnt alot about it and other gear just from reading the crappy booklet that comes with gear but now i know heaps more about my gear and configurations. have a look at how it was designed and the reasons for it and fit it accordingly. like drew said fit it low as itll feel weird to start with but soon gets good. good luck with it though i love it and wouldnt change i hope you get the same joy!
  13. ahh dont get me wrong its really good stuff but for the line and cord combo i was running it just didnt do it, i still rate it for other things but like ya say each to their own, i just havent heard of people not getting on with it and thought id add it to the mix.

    Lanyard

i used to have a 10mm op and loved it i ran it with a vt and a hc was a great rig i am thinking of changing to the 10.2mm mammut and ill put the vt set up on it. currently running a tachyon line but it just doesnt float me boat. nice choice on the rope though have you heard much about it. ive heard bits and the initial reports are good, just no hard review as yet.
  16. its alright i dont overly rate it i prefer other stuff, its good for footlock strops and footlocking on but i dont rete it for hitches. may offend some but i have used it for the last 9 months on different ropes on different set ups and am not overly impressed.

    Acenders

second that, much easier and everyone can use a doubled ascender but srt rigs are very person specific.
  18. nz and oz. find someone who goes regular and get them to get u some it comes on a 25m roll.

    Acenders

you would ideally need a double ascender and backing it up is a good idea if the ascenders dont come with the newer safety specs on them, bare in mind practically i only see the point backing up the side running into the alpine butterfly if u use it and if u dont have a butterfly at the top then id back both of them up. have a look at the petzl ascentree for a look at a double ascender. hope it helps, good luck
  20. hey harrison, ive got a 12mm edelrid line with splice and its 45m so u could cut ur lanyard out of it depending on ur climbing rig. i work in rutland a bit and live down near banbury for the xmas period let me know if ur keen and we can sort a meet, i dont want heaps for it as its been sitting in its rope bag while ive been in aus and im probably not gonna use it. and its a expensive tow rope for the old man.
  21. cheers for the link, slightly funny its nearly 30 bills for gloves. whats that about
  22. anyone gotta link for this seal skinz stuff?
  23. i climber in showa thermos last winter in sweden and loved them, then for the summer i used showa greens theyre great theyre cheap and work well and last a good while. good luck
  24. nice work, did you srt, the clump looks pretty close together i would have expected them to be more open than that. just shoy of 200 aint bad either looked like a good time. did you set up a traverse between the two trees.
  25. danavan i know what u mean and what ive found is i have a hitch that self tends higher up when i can get some weight in the rope underneath but its speradic but always bites on sitback its not perfect but as close as i need and appreciate ur difficulties, the way i did it is to loose a cross over on the vt and put a extra twist on the remaining last cross over it works well and doesnt effect the hitch. but its a pain for sure to get it right. ill try some photos tomorrow im gonna play on some new ropes so will play with my hitch. taff nice photos but i wonder why the eyes on ur prussic are that big and not cinched up against the biner. looks to me as though the tape holds it and if it has a stich under it then its the hitch that holds it. just a curiosity but i wouldnt be so keen. personal prefferance is always the deciding factor though.
