  1. I must admit mine is more of a HAAS type or rope walker setup. The same principle is there but as I had the bits, croll, 9mm tenex and can splice I cobbled one together using the spare elastic from that supplied with the tree motion harness. It works a treat but then again I don't SRT and work every tree SRT. Sometimes I use a micro frog setup on an access line and then out in a rope guide and double line. Other times I use the RW and micro frog as I spliced the micro frog so the croll can be removed and the tether clipped into my hitchclimber when I use the rope wrench. The haas seems to be a winner at the moment and it pleases the safety police as an ascender isn't above the hitch in the event if a fall... My rope walker setup.
  2. I just carry the locking variety of the Petzl Sparta. So small I don't even notice it.
  3. Nice vid Reg. How are you finding the Spiderjack?
  4. It is a pain in the derrier! I used to find that I would get to a tricky point in a climb and would reach for my lanyard. Could never find it as it was over my bloody shoulder!
  5. Nice one mate for answering my q's. With regards to the RW adding more clutter, you could argue that the setup you had used a lot more kit to make do. Not really trying to nit pick mate, just sharing my opinion. AND IMO the RW is perfectly suited for the job you had. i.e. High anchor, base tie of with climb line. Go up, set rigging line and pulley, cut, clear stub, remove rigging, descend, remove climb line. As I said not trying to nit pick, but as a contract climber, I tend to work with a lot of different crews. Varying in experience. I prefer to keep all the variables under my control, hence my choice would have been the RW with either a Microfrog system or the HAAS system. But the main thing is the job was done accordingly and safely, and I presume David will pay you for it ...?
  6. I had planned on going up there this year. I had to look after my boys on the saturday as the missus was working and I had worked booked in for Monday. Next year I will definitely make the effort.
  7. Nice little vid David. Couple of questions, did the climber just SRT up and then be lowered on the f8 when done? Why not take up a climb line or RW it so the option to descend was there? What did you lower on a bina as opposed to a small pulley? Cheers.
  8. It has a special childproof lock on it. Find that and you'll be sorted.
  9. But the man in the same tree who did the frictionhitchery vids won it.
  10. It works sweet with SRT for access using a croll. Maybe because I did a few pines in Norway my hitch and RW became a bit sticky. Lately I have been using a Lyon tape sling figure of 8'd and worn like a rucksack. Probably time for some new hitch cord. Haha.
  11. I hate LOTS. A picture of my neck elastic. Shamelessly ripped off from a photo from either here or Facebook. Sorry Drew if it was yours.
  12. I think they just say 'bro' a bit more...
  13. The UK Arb industry has the perfect platform to advertise... On here! The only thing I heard about the event was from Aaron MJ. Other than that not a bean. I obviously looked at social media sites etc for results and stuff. Surely better promotion and organisation would lead to a better turnout. A bit like the death of the celebration of trees. Perfect platform to get the word out there, a bit of foresight and that show would still be kicking it. Before anyone gets offended, I have no idea what it takes to organise such an event? Is it a volunteer basis? Fees for venue etc?
  14. Quite liked that. What are the working loads on your boys mini xrings?
  15. Pampas it is. Swingers are not as popular as in the eighties. My mate removed a huge one from the middle of his driveway. The neighbours came out and thanked god as people had been rustling in there for the previous 15 years.
  16. Just get some cougar blue mate. Low stretch, Stella compatible, great for SRT and the other type (I forget the name), developed down under by VB drinkers.
  17. I know mate, that tea was a nice gesture but I went to the show to get away from a 2 years old waking me at 6 in the morning. Only to have Bolam waking me at 7 in the morning. Albeit with a cup of tea, but he still bloody woke me up!
  18. Nice work Adam. I was proper knackered after the weekend. All I have wanted to do is sleep since I got back.
  19. I'd be interested in trying the X rings when they become available. They look an excellent product.
  20. Haha Mark. Here is a before shot. And after from similar angle
  21. Oak RJ from today. Bit of a tricky one. Lots of bendy poles and almost half the canopy over a fragile roof. Originally the client wanted it cut back completely off building but that would have needed to remove at least 50% or the canopy. They may aswell have felled it. Client decided to go for a total reductions instead. 2 climbers in tree and we removed about 2 metres of the top and sides. Quite a bit of fiddly rigging involved over the roof but all done and nothing broken.
  22. Worked for me last night Tom. Not today though. Says blocked due to copyright issues.
