  2. :001_rolleyes:Yes!! :confused1:But if he does not want it WHY did he exchange money for it in the first place???????????????
  3. £22K ain't such a big deal. I spent more than that on a family car and that won't bring a penny in!!!! I cannot believe how negative most of you lot are, whats up?? jealous??
  4. Could be, I had an 1100 that was like that.
  5. Nicely done Dean!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it when a plan comes together!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I would NEVER tell a client to "naff off" I will pretty much do whatever the client wants, if it not good for the trees I will explain this, but if the still insist its going to be done whether I do it or not, I will pretty much do it. The only job I can recall turning down was a Beech, it was not the clients tree but their neighbours, they had asked for more light. The neighbour had had the tree reduced, my customer now wanted me to cut it back to the boundary. I explained that I felt the tree owner had been more than fair and that I felt cutting it back too the boundary would ruin the tree and punish the owner after they had behaved so well. I am pleased to say I was back in that area a few weeks back and the tree had not been cut back to boundary and its at least 5 years since I was asked to do it, so they had obviously taken on board my comments.
  7. When I look at that all the components turn into £ signs!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

  12. I could be wrong ( as I was earlier in this thread ), but I believe if you have mains gas you are in a SZ, the argument is that gas is a viable option to coal.
  13. Much of our woodlands are now classed as "amenity woodlands", I do safety works for UU, in woodlands that were planted for timber, but are now used by walkers, I doubt they will ever be felled and most have already been thinned.
  14. If I had been up the tree I would have shouted down "hang on I can't hear you!", then nipped the top off, turned off and shouted "sorry what was it you were saying??":sneaky2: I will top owt, but that too much even for me
  15. IME, a boom in some thing is NOT a good thing, as lots of people jump on the bandwagon and drive down prices. In a previous life me and my dad had a bike shop, we were doing OK, then mountain bikes appeared on the scene, we thought great this will increase trade nicely. How wrong we were, lots of other shops in our town started selling MB's and other cycle stuff and the mail order firms went into it big time, our profits fell.
  16. I don't like jobs like that, I prefer to be able to give a price (ideally beating another quote or two) if I then find a way to do the job quicker I make more. If they don't get a quote I always feel I have to be fairly reserved with my price.
  17. If I don't get the heart clutching and face pulling I worry I've gone in too cheap
  18. The Scandinavians can't understand why we burn "furniture wood"??
