  1. His hand is trapped and probably dead, but he can't cut the trapped part, so has to cut where its not trapped, I think it would have been very painful, but the film takes you through all the thought process that got him to the point where he knew it was do it or die.
  2. I did not think I was going to enjoy it, but I did. Its 100X better than "Buried alive", what a pile of pooh that was
  3. Thats almost identical to mine Dean, is it 13 tonne?? Have you got the side extensions for the table and the foot peddle??
  4. It did not say if he went back, I would imagine some one went fairly quickly, to see if any of it was savable. He appears at the end of the film, (with a stump) and it shows pic's and all the things he has achieved since the incident.
  5. I had one of these a few years back, I bought it from a collage for £500 and removed it myself. It sat in a barn for a few years, but I decided I would never get round to setting it up, so sold it for £1200. Wish I'd kept it really.
  6. No mate, but his hand was trapped solid so he forced his arm until one bone broke and then did the other.
  7. Not the best film ever, but pretty good given a fairly limited story. But I found it very, very thought provoking.
  8. My wife and I went to see the film "127 hours" today, I already knew the story and had seen Aaron interviewed years ago not long after it had happened. Basically we was climbing/canyoning, he had not told anyone where he was going, a large rock fell trapping his hand, he was trapped for 127, eventually he snapped the bones in his forearm and cut through the tissue with a very blunt knife to amputate his own arm, freeing him and saving his life. Do you think you could do the same if it was that or die???
  9. Many yes, but not all. What about the disabled?? or their carers??
  10. Just go down M&S and get some nice comfy slacks.
  11. The problem with high cost fuel is it hits the poor harder. There well be people who cut out unnecessary journeys long ago and are now trying to work out what they can go without in order to pay for the fuel for essential journeys.
  12. Were there any attractive young Lady's watching you?? I did similar things as a lad, but always to try and impress a lass, I would not have done it otherwise.
  13. Yes, but they are collecting the VAT for the government, the VAT they paid when they bought the beer would have been claimed back already. People forget that the VAT does not belong too the seller.
  14. Your better of getting a fuel card, you get a similar (all be it very small) saving, without the risk of theft, etc.
  15. Why do the media have to try and hype up every thing!!!!!!!!!! The song and dance they have made about the VAT increase is nothing less than scare mongering. Because 2.5% does not sound that bad, they have started saying its a 14% increase in tax, which it is, but they are just trying to paint things blacker than they are, which will not help anyone They even had some muppet in a shopping mall yesterday who said he was changing all his kitchen appliances before the increase
  16. A lad that subs to me occasionally told me about this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/589-just-when-you-think-youre-top-your-game.html Its a great vid and after watching that I looked at more of the forum and got hooked.
  17. But my first 020 is a 1978????
  18. Doesn't say how old it is?? I don't think 1712 is the year of manufacture My first top handle was a 1978 020 AV, with hand guard, but no brake.
  19. Don't worry I'm pulling your leg too an existent, but we really should be very grateful for the blessings we have, IMHO
  20. Really?????? I don't find the misery of my forefather's in the least bit funny. I'm very grateful that I live now, with all the modern benefits, my wife and first born son would have died at his birth 100 years ago and my eldest daughter would have died age 3 of pneumonia, if she had lived pre 1942. I'm not a fan of those who look back with rose coloured glasses, with no real understanding of the horrors of the past.
  21. So true, but they reduce production of red and heating oil in the winter to drive up the price
