  1. really But what about the show, you going????
  2. What about brazing it??? I've brazed cast in the past with good results.
  3. Can it not be Mig wielded??
  4. I was reducing/topping two big Limes early this week final cuts were nearly 2ft diameter, only used my 201, no problems at all, great saw!!!!
  5. Do a cracking job, make sure all your customers are highly delighted at the end of each job, most of my customers say "I will recommend you to my friends" Its amassing who people know. Just needs you to work for the family or friend of some one in the relevant position and your name can come into the frame. Also try to help out all customers who ring, I ground out a stump for a guy who was struggling to have some decking done at home (the stump was in the way) only an £80 job. Turned out the guy was the MD at a big firm, I've since had two £3K jobs off them.
  6. Cuts like butter, ime. Wood turners love rings for turning, its best if you have the stubs/knots in the centre of the ring wall.
  7. I have recently noticed this too!!!!! Who knew?????????????
  8. Me too I might even make up some letters to put after my name now
  9. Yes its very catchy mate, but I bet like me you learned something too
  10. My 9 year old came home from school and wanted me to see this of youtube, she loves it !!!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj8TGhcCnxs]Photosynthesis song new and complete version - YouTube[/ame]
  11. Thats tough Dean, but that business today I got the bill for my crane test and service the other week, £750 plus it needs some new wear pads in the boom, I'm waiting for a price for these and fitting. On the plus side, I had booked a few days away at Alton Towers for Me, my Mrs 4 children (although over 12s are charged at full rate) and my parents. We had booked for the wrong week (our schools have an extra week that the rest of the country don't) so I rang to change the dates, its costing just under £500 less than the original booking:thumbup: Plus it should be quieter as most school are back in, so its a win win
  12. The neck did not take too long, I stopped the job that had caused it (grinding in a foundry, looking down between the castings and the wheel), but because I was holding myself differently, keeping my head up etc, I slipped a disc in my back whist off with the neck, that took longer to sort.
  13. Many, many years ago I slipped a disc in my neck, my symptoms were pins and needles in my arms and hands.
  14. Truly horrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My four children never step foot in my yard without my express permission, even though its right next to our garden.
  15. Thats correct, but if you tell them you only wish to for example "crown lift" the tree and give an approximate hight to which you intend to lift to they may well not TPO it, because the tree is not at risk. However if you told them you are going to "top" the same tree they may well TPO, to save it. You are right in that they cannot come back to you and tell you what you can and cannot do to an un TPO'd tree, but they do need to know your intentions before they can decide if a TPO is required. Thats my understanding of things.
  16. You don't "apply", you "notify". "pruning" would not be detailed enough for a notification, you need to tell the exactly what you intend to do and once they have said they don't in tend to TPO you can only carry out the works mentioned on your notification.
  17. These are also muppets, this is not surprising as you say you try to turn all the muppets that ring you into customers, so if your pretty successful at this a large percentage of your customers will be muppets. You have made a rod for your own back.
  18. I guess this is aimed at me, they are muppets for thinking that a professional company, working within the law and best practice, could possibly compete with some bloke next door who's doing it for a little extra income, paying no tax on that income, probably has no real idea of the work involved and will more than likely not finnish the job once started. Also they are not potential customers, they are just chances who are trying to get something done on the cheap. I had one just the other week, decent sized job, I quoted £1100+VAT. "Oh a friends son who clears trees on the rail way can do it for £600 cash, he'll climb for 3 days for that and I'll help" Thats fine, but why on earth does the muppet think I'm interested in trying to compete with that I'm not a charity. Why do they waste our time:thumbdown:
