  1. The rigging will probably be in the next vid
  2. This is what I have alway thought too, but TBH I think we may be kidding ourselves, while quoting work or carrying job I often get asked if we do fencing or landscaping and when I say no the customers seem disappointed.
  3. This is the problem with things like LOLER, people pass some exam which which apparently makes them "a competent person" I believe the term is and they think they have some power and authority. Planers and TO's are often the same, going way beyond their remit. This thread has had many contributors, most of whom agree with treequip, but you still think that you should have the authority to tell people what they can and cannot do, when in fact an inspectors job is to check the condition of equipment, not tell people how it should be used.
  4. My two daughters have their Harvest Festival assembly that day, so I will not be attending.
  5. I only do trees and hedges, last year I did strim some land for an existing client, but thats the one and only time I've done work other than tree work. I think most tree firms do other work, I often read on here about them turfing or fencing, but I'm just trees.
  6. They are not bad chippers, but pretty hard work as you have to drop every thing into them, so you need to cut stuff to 6' or 8'. There are no feed rollers, its pretty much gravity fed, but the blades to pull stuff too.
  7. This has been happen for years now, we were felling infected Larch for the LA 2 years ago.
  8. The problem is its too long to come through flat, it needs to come through end first, so you need it to either be shaken so it lands in the hole end first or you need to lift one end with something, so it drops out end first.
  9. If you turn the saw upside down and look up through the hole, using a torch, you can use something thin (like a knitting needle) to push one end of the object, thus allowing it to fall through the hole.
  10. Why not just turn it from the clutch side?? Less work than removing the pull start side.
  11. I'm surprised you did not order a spare belt with the machine when you bought it. I have a spare belt for my Vermeer, when it gets fitted I will order another. Down time is a real killer.
  12. But surely he is paying you for the day and your working for the day, so whats the problem? If he worked hard too he would make more, but you would just make the same. I don't see the problem.
  13. Do people really yell at staff????
  14. All this talk of wanting workers to speed up how many of you have been asked to slow down?? I know I have, I used to climb for a guy who always had very strong money on his jobs, he often asked to slow down my dismantles, as he'd told the customer it was a tricky, time-consuming job and he did not want me finishing it too quickly
  15. I can't see this every becoming affordable for small scale operators. The forces required are just to great.
  16. I enjoy parts of my work, but not all of it. But then the less enjoyable parts of the job make the better parts feel even better. You take the rough with the smooth, the rough makes the smooth feel smoother. I think being good at your job is very important, it gives you a feeling of achievement and satisfaction, often the most satisfying days are the ones you dread, but knuckle down and crack on with.
  17. You can always tell when someone feels they are losing the argument, they resort to name calling and insults
  18. Exactly what I was going to say!! I've been using 020's for the best part of 20 years and never had a strop attachment fail.
  19. Would your current employer let you go part time for them? Presumably they know your already starting to run your own show.
