  1. Yeah, yeah, cause you were :001_tt2:
  2. When your turnover hits a little under £80K, you much go VAT reg, obviously the amount you charge dictates whether you hit £80K or not
  3. Its not easy, but experience helps, IMO. You need to value your time and charge accordingly, then hold your nerve, easier said than done. Getting offered more work than you need is the secret, you can put in the price you want and don't need to win them all.
  4. Really????? You don't know Jonny???????
  5. You can charge considerably more, so long as your work is of high standard
  6. Varies greatly, but most seem to be around the £350 to £450 range. Considering many are not VAT reg, they can't charge much more.
  7. If you think that your kidding yourself.
  8. No way I would sub in a man and machine in for £500, I pay £300+VAT for a day and £175+VAT for half day. I would not expect 8 hours with no breaks mind. £500 direct to the customer may be achievable, but seems very high to me, many two man gangs with truck and chipper, are not charging that.
  9. Is there enough at the arbshow to need two days??? Sure the the APF is a big old show that takes some getting round, but I've aways found the arbshow a bit of a let down.
  10. Obviously, but the figures would not be as impressive
  11. Presumable thats the length of the logs being produced to achieve that volume per hour.
  12. Stick it on ebay and go buy a nice new saw that will leave you with some feeling in your hands.

  14. Monster tree!!!!!!!! Amazing its not had a lightning strike. Hell of a tough climb, one of those that has you scratching your head or thinking wtf am I doing here!! But once you had got it done I bet the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment was immense!!! Once in a career tree for sure
  15. Oh the irony!! The true comes from a TRUE mountain man
  16. I would have expected nothing less from an outstanding gentleman like yourself Dean  . FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Wow!!! such a powerful argument, I think your beginning to win me over
  18. It's only "BS" in your opinion, an opinion that carries very little weight with me, I've met enough extremely strong and active older people and heard from enough experts to know it's not. As for your qualifications I've no idea, I don't recall seeing a single video of even a picture of your work or you working, you could be a 14 year old girl for all I know Why would I not want to climb at 65???
  19. This idea that you need to become lathargic and unfit or fat in middle and old age is ridiculous. Many choose to go this way, but that's not nature, it's idleness, IMO. I'm 45 and still do all the climbing, I have no intention to ever stop. "You don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things"
  20. The best one is when the none brew maker comes out to talk to you while enjoying a nice fresh brew themselves!!!
