  3. Monster tree!!!!!!!! Amazing its not had a lightning strike. Hell of a tough climb, one of those that has you scratching your head or thinking wtf am I doing here!! But once you had got it done I bet the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment was immense!!! Once in a career tree for sure
  4. Oh the irony!! The true comes from a TRUE mountain man
  5. Alder.
  6. I would have expected nothing less from an outstanding gentleman like yourself Dean  . FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Wow!!! such a powerful argument, I think your beginning to win me over
  8. It's only "BS" in your opinion, an opinion that carries very little weight with me, I've met enough extremely strong and active older people and heard from enough experts to know it's not. As for your qualifications I've no idea, I don't recall seeing a single video of even a picture of your work or you working, you could be a 14 year old girl for all I know Why would I not want to climb at 65???
  9. This idea that you need to become lathargic and unfit or fat in middle and old age is ridiculous. Many choose to go this way, but that's not nature, it's idleness, IMO. I'm 45 and still do all the climbing, I have no intention to ever stop. "You don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things"
  10. Why???
  11. The best one is when the none brew maker comes out to talk to you while enjoying a nice fresh brew themselves!!!
  12. They have not really lost anything, they had been over estimating the value of their assets ridiculously. There stores are not worth the figure they clamed, even the stock in the stores was over estimated by over £500M!!! The new boss has corrected this, thus the huge right down.
  13. You don't HAVE to say "please" or "thank you", its no compulsory to hold doors open for people, you won't get arrested for not standing on a bus or train for the elderly, however decent people do. Life is not about rules and regulations, punishment or reward, IMO, its about deciding what sort of person you wish to be and acting accordingly When the biomass lads were fitting my boiler before Xmas, there was regular tea or coffee, home baked cakes and bacon sandwiches. Hospitality is not mandatory, but I'd sooner be a person who offers it than not
  14. Alex Price put's Sintrans (sp) in mine, it obscenely expensive, about £250-£300 to fill my gearbox, buts its recommended my Merc.
  15. The condensation will be a real problem, IMO.
  16. The scots, thats why they are so cheery.
  17. Not sure the term "many" constitutes a "massive generalisation":001_rolleyes:
  18. :confused1:Did I mention you??????????
  19. Spot on Tom!!!!!!!! But unfortunately many will be more concerned about his £5M than their own £5K, its very sad
  20. 52 is no age, very sad indeed, RIP.
  21. Tom on the money as usual!! The problem is many people measure their own worth against what others have, rather than concentrating on what they have. People talk about the gap between the rich and poor being greater than ever before, maybe, BUT the difference is in the past the poor starved, today the poor maybe don't have the latest iPhone.
  22. Normally the Oak and the Ash are among the last to come into leaf, But this year many seem really, really early The Hawthorn are barely out, the Chestnuts are just opening, Sycamore are mostly still bare, I can never recall a year where Ash were out before Sycamore and Chestnut. The old saying about "Ash before Oak and we are in for a soak, Oak before Ash and we are in for a splash" I presume is because these two are generally the last trees to leaf up. If the old saying is true we are in serious trouble I may start building and Ark!!!!!!!!
  23. This is OK, but what about those who currently carry out these tasks?? Someone will lose the work that the unemployed people start doing.
  24. The current lot have improved this to some extent, benefits are reduced and they intend to further reduce them. This has lead to more people taking jobs or starting their own business.
