If the fence is 6foot, the tree is around 20foot at the very most and half of it has already gone, looks like a couple of hours work to me.

Hehe, I did not pull out, I just pointed out how foolish it would be for me transfer funds with out having possession of the splitter. I said I was happy to transfer upon collect via my phone, or pay cash or bankers draft……………. I'm still waiting for his reply

Simply don't part with any hard earned until the goods are in your procession. I would never dismiss a listing of something I wanted because it seemed dodgy, could just be an inept or inexperienced ebayer.

I won Posch splitmaster 20T on ebay, I was pretty sure it was a scam from the replies I'd had to enquires. Sure enough, he was happy for me to collect, but wanted transferred funds before collection as he "did not want to handle cash", yeah right I offered a bankers draft or transfer at the time of collect, obviously heard nothing since Googled the mobile number he gave me, as expect comes up as associated with ebay scams.
