  1. Lots come up but none for sale
  2. Hi I have seen people with tree tents so they can tie them up in trees and sleep up there. Where can i get one of these from or how do i make one. I've looked online but i can't find one. Thanks Andy
  3. For less wear on you the new 346xpg with a 13" bar. If you want something a little bigger a 357xpg with a 15" bar they are a little slow with an 18" one. I'd go with the 346 as i love them to bits also a semi chisel chain just as Beech is normally as hard as nails and takes the edge of a chain real quick.
  4. £4-6 a hoppus foot maybe. if it's been down a long time it will be as hard as nails.

NPTC | Latest News | Important change to Level 2 Chainsaw and Related Operations and PA4S and PA4G Update Thats the NPTC news so it's what you say. Not really hurd much about it other than that news link i'm suprised it's not in the Forestry Journal.
  6. i have a similar problem with the MS660. The spark plug vibrates loose from the cylinder and sometimes the HT lead will pop off the plug. Doesn't make a bang though. Mine only does it with milling never solved the problem.
  7. That's a nice roof mount. Is that a Valmet 8050? Are you side windows and rear ones guarded?
  8. Depends on what they want for it. Looks like it's short a PTO shaft, some guarding around the filters. Not sure but the feed table looks a little short so it might not meet HSE specs.
  9. i thought i 4250kg all in so 3500kg+750kg
  10. The wood chips count on the vehicle weight so your 3500kg transit may take 1.2 of that weight of as payload. You can still tow a trailer upto 750kg. You can't however drive a 3500gh vehicle with a trailer over 750kg but you may drive a 1200kg vehicle with a 1200kg trailer as its less than the 3500kg of your licence. IF you do licence cat C1 which is 7500kg trucks you will still only be able to tow 750kg as you've changed catagory. You then would need to do C1+E which take you up to around 8500kg vehicle weight from memory. For the money i'd the C cat which credits you C1 as well the vehicle you take the test in is more or less the same size. C makes you much more employable as well. Your looking at spending about a grand a catagory for C and C+E
  11. Well Sign written truck. When you do a job people can see who you are and how to get hold of you and the quality of your work. Only down side of having one is when people come and knock on your door when the thing is parked outside your house. If you have a dedicated works vehicle then get proper signs made up if it's a dual purpose vehicle well made magnetic signs are good.
  12. Nice job. Like the double rope lowering technique.
  13. Are you looking to do purpose built ones or agri based? I did agri based forward which was unit 1.3 3.1-3.3. It was quite expensive did a day theory then a day for 1.3 and a day for 3.1-3.3 then 6 months practice practice practice. Did mine with Land based training.
  14. Let me know how you get on with them. I'm in the market for new irons mine are an old set of pole gaffs. Post pics when they arive.
  15. Herkules 10mm is great think i got mine from proclimber. Normally use Regate 10mm as it can be picked up most places. nice on the hands grips well and lasts quite well.
  16. Nice. Timberjack is it? Any reason you went for it over a tractor/forwarding trailer combo.
  17. Ok 800 quid at 25 for my Navara isn't that bad then.
  18. Fill it with wood chips. Is the insurance a killer?
  19. That topping out was just scary. Swinging a super axe that close to the strop holding you in the tree is just crazy. Not to mention the 'penciling' going on. We have to so much easier and safer. Truely fantastic bit of footage. I know Oregon did a calander with all the old day logging photos on it. Try searching ebay.
  20. I too use the Buxtons slick line, i don't like the weaver stuff. I've hurd good things about Zingit i'd imagin thats what most people use.
  21. I'm a forester there employed full time. It's a fine site to work. Just finished the tree surveying seen a lot of fungi. If you haven't you should check out the beech pollards up at Frisden and the big beeches along the college road.
  22. I work on the Ashridge Estate. Take it thats Docky wood?
  23. Fantastic a proper job. I'd love a go on a harvester.
  24. NPTC | Latest News | Important change to Level 2 Chainsaw and Related Operations and PA4S and PA4G Update sums it up nicely. 49 is about making trees that want to go one way go the other.
  25. Blakes on the climbing line and a VT on the lanyard. Sometimes i put a VT on the climbing line don't really get on with it.
