  1. I wish most of the Poms that move away from the UK did that. Sadly they seem intent on getting just as outraged about things in Aus/NZ/Norway/Canada as they did back home.
  2. Can you expand on what the " once in a lifetime " opportunity is please?
  3. I have started to screen more potential clients because work is streaming in .Anything/Anyone I dont like the sound of I just tell them I am too busy.I have put my prices up 20% and cancelled a bunch of work that I didnt feel like doing. It probably didnt do the company reputation much good but neither does being an unhappy boss.
  4. Whale,Gravy and Chips
  5. Sausages on ice
  6. Kayak fishing in a Norwegian winter is "stimulating" Then the Fjord froze
  7. One of Arbtalks finest threads.
  8. He should have reloaded and shot it from 10 feet as it charged him.If he had time to drop the gun and run up a tree he had time to finnish the job.I have shot alot of pigs, knifed many over dogs, been charged numerous times and frankly if you run away you shouldnt own a gun. I have seen a 303 Bullet deflect on a boar sheild because on a big pig you shoot for the ear or the first rib. Using a shotgun with slugs is more of a handycap than anything,at the range a non rifled unsighted barrel is good for you may as well use Buckshot and increase your chances of hitting it .Up really close buckshot does more damage than slugs anyhow. I think my record for pigs in a week without using dogs was 38. Shooting with my trusty SLR and FMJs.
  9. I feel sorry for you Poms with all your regulations etc. Stalking is pretty simple,if you get the chance to do a lot of it.
  10. What was the point of putting a collar on a Roe deer? If I saw a Reindeer with a red nose,I would still shoot it.
  11. Depends alot on what they have been eating. Its a leaner meat than farm pork generally .It tastes a bit stronger in general, like chicken vs goose for example. I dont like it much and generally left the pigs where they fell.
  12. Buy from your closest reputable shop.If the saw has trouble under warranty, they will have a spare you can borrow. mowers2go wont.
  13. I made an emergency shelter using a deflated paddling pool hung over a skipping rope tied between a tree and a bike shed once. You shoukd have heard the children cry.
  14. @Rough Hewn
  15. The Shells are not propriety, that's a line the dealers spin punters.I fell for that myself once.
  16. I have run one for close to 10 years. Bullet proof machine, like soc sayes a bit annoying when bits get stuck on the side of the feed roller. Best used being machine fed by a small digger. Take the belts off and check for play in the bearings, its a hard job to change them. If the price is right and you have a use for it just buy it.
  17. Ebay.com in the states has plenty of parts. stihl+028av | eBay WWW.EBAY.COM Find great deals on eBay for stihl+028av. Shop with confidence.
  18. The new shaft just slides into the new gearbox.
  19. Cut shaft off half way along Weld a bolt to the shaft. Hammer shaft out. That's How I'd do it. Don't expect the lower fees roller to come off the old shaft easy. You might have to bore the shaft out then wash the rest of the shaft out with gas. This is simple stuff, get another firm to look at it.
  20. As you probably can guess, have your helper support the long beams as they come off the slab. You can rig something up to do it alone but it's a bit of a faff.
  21. I have the Granberg one but I always thought they were more for cutting slabs into beams. I made dozens of 8x8"s in Canada, some were 22 ' long, never had a problem with it going off square.
  22. People do bite sometimes. There was a guy on here from the SE who transferred 5k for a processor located in the Scottish Hebrides. Strangely it never turned up.
  23. No Brass is elastic,so when the gun is fired it expands to the diameter of the chamber forming a gas seal. Then it relaxes to enable the spent case to be extracted. Brass plated steel cartridges have a lower height to the metal portion, even though it stays about the same diameter as the chamber once fired ,there is less bearing surface to make extraction too difficult.
  24. I found a Cannon ball in the yard.I had been reversing over it for literally years before I bothered to dig it out. There were quite a few Naval battles in Bergen Harbour,it might have come from one of those.
