  1. Ffs. Once England ruled half the globe, yet now you soil your collective linen at the prospect of some " bitey flies?".
  2. I can't think of much worse for towing than a van. Honestly, you are increasing the wind sail probably 70% to a pickup,no low box and family sedan running gear. Maybe if you are towing your flower stall to the Sunday Market?
  3. How many people use that loophole though? Tree Surgery & Market Gardeners
  4. Do you still drive a Unimog?
  5. Did your listing include the terms " no bark on the logs" or " split dried timber only put it in the shed round the back?". If not,you are missing the largest need for us.I suggest you edit your listing.
  6. I have a Warn 5000lb winch on my Jensen. Had a winch on there since 2010. Hydraulic would be grand for many winch cycles but electric works for me.
  7. @josharb87 had one for years, hope he can chime in.
  8. Pics of my old Jeeps. Sold both to England.
  9. I don't know, maybe they had alot of that too? They took the turrets off them and filled them up apparently
  10. Sure ,but what else we're they good for? They tried to turn them into crawler tractors but they used to much fuel. There are many that were filled with concrete and pushed into river mouthes to try and stop the river from wandering.
  11. In the 1960s my dad worked for a scrap dealer cutting up M4 Sherman tanks. Each one is worth about £200K now. They also cut up Bren Gun carriers, dad bought one for scrap value and kept it untill the 1980s. A family freind still has the Chevrolet truck that dad sold him on his farm to this day.The climate in New Zealand is really kind to steel in Canterbury. I have had a couple of Willys Jeeps, all original WW2 examples, fun toys and miles ahead of a series 1 landy
  12. Some of their recent data skills have been used here in Norway to Rob people via their smart phone. Three of them drive around in separate cars with some kind of device which jumps into your bank the moment you log in via smart phone. The cops are vague on the exact details but it's UKE nationals and judging by how the cops handled the seized devices its pretty secret stuff.
  13. Sounds like a perfect opportunity for D.A.R.T. to spring to the fore! Rumour has it that have been operating behind the lines in Bahkmut driving uparmoured cabstars pruning away low branches from important supply routes
  14. I tell them that Trees cause cancer among children, or blindness. Which ever I think they will most believe.
  15. I earnestly believe you are lying. Your outburst is sad and amusing in equal measure. Now that you have nearly £5k worth of work booked in,will you post a link to the advertisements for the equipment you are selling? There's a good chap.
  16. I tried the " Arb-evangelist" route when I first started out. It wouldn't have paid the bills or let me buy the tastey kit I have to day. " give the punters what they want" I explain the potential result of what they want, suggest alternatives and if the want the tree topped and painted gold the only question thereafter is " Mat or gloss?"
  17. Say hello to Khris for us.
  18. I see. Yes it really was a different game back then.
  19. Ever work with a guy from down that way who used to do medieval jousting and sidecar racing? Can't remember his name just now,I worked for an outfit that did the Dulwich Colledge Trees back in the late 90s . I remember mentioning that to him in Germany when we worked together in 2000. Mark Walsh was his name,fk me that's 23 years ago.
  20. Who were you working for then Mick?
  21. I don't know what a fitbit is? This was the late 90s,the Logging and forestry industry traing board put heart rate monitors on hooktenders and they worked the equivalent of playing two rugby games per day. We would drink maybe 8 or 9 liters of water a day in the summer and ate heaps of food. I weighed 70kg.
  22. I was a hooktender/ bucker in a old growth yarder crew in New Zealand in my late teens early 20s. The fallers would tip maybe 30 big ones in a day. 80 if they were down to just 3 tonn stem size. The skiddies who cut the logs to length once they were up the hill used the most fuel, them along with the " Poleman" who unhooked the logs at the top and limbed between turns. It would have been normal to use close to 200 liters a day in saw fuel all up,a tank lasting about 20 minutes.6 to 8 guys on the skid,QC,log maker, poleman, two fallers and a bucker all running saws. In Canada the first time I worked in a crew selective logging old growth. There we felled with a 088 and limbed with smaller saws. The production rate was tiny compared to clear Felling,we might fell five trees in a day other days just one. Carrying big saws can be a pain as you can't easily use it to clear a path as you go. However in old growth there is generally little understory. In clear fell you walk along the fallen trees so it's not too bad generally
  23. Mincers dancing to the sound of a Minstrals Lute.
  24. Is a hetero a type of Italian chocolate?
  25. A 088 will pull a 36" all day everyday for its entire working life. A 066/660/ 661 will die under 6 months doing the same. I am talking about burning 10 to 20 liters a day not mincing around in back gardens. A 66 will do everything well enough but it's a lot lighter built than a 084/088. I would much rather use a lighter saw but we didn't have that option.
