  1. just got my SRT petzl sequioa. dont like it and its for sale-any takers in nz? its a nice well made harness but its just too "komet butterfly" like for me now that im used to my treemotion.-which is the best.imo.
  2. Tails should be between 6 and 10x the rope diameter. done drop tests with thilo from nordic tree care and seeing fishermans pull through is pretty scary to see!
  3. thats the way we prune the big phoenix palms without having to spike them. just throwball over the top and attach the line with pulley on and haul up into the fronds.
  4. gets to about 30 degrees but its the sun thats a killer. burn time is around 5mins in summer and gets real humid, for this reason a lot of people only wear chaps instead of proper chainsaw trousers. trousers are only front protection. and im a brit by the way
  5. auckland mate.2 am. i know of some tree jobs available in queenstown if you know anyone, mainly l/c and council work.nice place to be..

  8. does the ART system require a back up?
  9. no worries mate. its not the only way to do it but its the only way that i can do, its good to hear the opinions of others as you see dodgy stuff that you may not of seen yourself. personally i never really bother with it - i prefer to footlck up and than set up my TIP once im there. + it helps to taper the (ropeguide)rope when installing it as above though
  10. someone asked ages ago about installingthe rope guide from the ground so heres the pics showing a way me and a mate worked out. its not ideal and im sure theres better ways but this does work. its major problem is it leaves the throwline attached after installation. doesnt work on the newer webbing ones either..

  13. Wearing a camelbak at work in summer helps heaps. it gets a bit hot on your back but is still definetly worth it to prevent heat stroke
  14. yeah it is steve
  15. what about proclimber?
  16. At last ive found a xt combo that doesnt twist my rope. its a little longer that i would normally use due to the splices but i shortened the bridge on my 'motion to counter it and hey presto, no twists in the rope!!!!
  17. clipping the small krab to your t shirt will stop the footlockstrop from getting in your way whilst ascending.
  18. turn plugs off at the wall and dont leave the tv on standby. every little bit helps.....
  19. go for white i reckon but personal preference of course.
  20. Why do you need a seperate helmet for climbing and grounding? am i missing something?
  21. One of the main reasons I tried the half hitch at the bottom of a VT was I heard it can help prevent rope twist which happens when using a VT on certain rope Marc, Does this work and eliminate the twist?
  22. yeah i think ross (kite) was over. looked real good fun-did anyone use that hitch climber advancement technique to access up the tree?
