    Epic.

jamie pierre extreme skier on youtube. 78m drop.nuts.
  3. i wouldnt go for the wire core one first as you wont be using a saw in the air for a while and a rope lanyard will be easier to use in the tree (except on stems) for general climbing. also a heap cheaper. a little french prussick on it with a pulley will do the job as a lanyard adjuster.
  4. everyone shoud have the day off. as its my dads birthday! 66 today, good work.
  5. a good start might be the big old american companies such as Bartletts and Asplundh. might help. And the book by Donald F Blair?
  6. donaghys 12 strand dyneema rope has an average strength of 193300kgs at 44mm.
  7. Fixed access lines and regular practice (monthly) should be a industry standard imo.
  8. yep thats the one. great book for learning from
  9. It will be worth the wait definetly. better to wait and get the improvements than rush it and get the first run.
  10. Get the bigger version. rated to 15kg and doesnt seem to grab onto little branches as much. and on a side note, if you did clip into it by accident its a bit stronger
  11. Treemotion for me. apart from the hardware dying an early death ( i have been given another til the upgrade is released) i cannot fault the comfort, adjustment and great design. climbed in my old butterfly a while ago and all i can say is yuck..
  12. The book by Dirk Lingens (i think thats correct), Knots for Arborists (or something similar), is good for knot tying practice. pretty sure ive got the name wrong though so maybe not too much help........

dunno mate-which issue? its in auckland domain. this is starting to die back a bit too.. nightmare climbs what with all the sap, nice n sunny though up here. hows ch'church at the moment?
  19. A liquidamber removed in the CBD and fig deadwooded.
  20. Just got back from a quick play in the petzl harness. 1st impressions- light(more like a rock climbing harness). super easy to fit and adjustement for waist size is the best i have ever tried. the new openable rings are a neat idea. not sure about the plastic leg buckles in regard to wear in tear through tree work. vented back support is nice and sure to make a difference( but will still get sweaty and horrible). More like a butterfly to sit in but still not as comfy as a treemotion but can be used straight out of the box with no adjustment. all in all a good harness but not ground breaking.time will tell. stuff by petzl does feel well made and gives confidence and this is a good thing i think.
  21. will try and get round to gettin some photos of the install for ya bud..
  22. 24 hrs of flying prevents me attending......
  23. the wood has A toxin that can build up in your system. some people will work all there life and not become susceptible to it, other people have a reaction after 5 mins. causes a really nasty rash with ant area that comes in contact with the wood( such as saw dust , picking the logs/brash up, etc..)that can last a couple of days.
  24. its big and heavy and hoses everywhere but it chips like a ba/$t#rd and real fine chip.winch is a godsend but is a bit short over the feed table. it kinda prefered th bigger stuff to the smaller.if the work is there its good but i would prefer a bc1000 for day to day work.
