I have the long green smock, i love it but like Andy says it can get a bit to warm great for walking the dog and when out shooting etc but not great for active work, although i had seen the ranger extreme jackets and fancy having a look at one before shelling out online. I generally only wear a cotton shirt under my swanni and that is normally fine even on frosty mornings
  6. please can i enter, Thanks
  7. its pretty good, the only oddity is the quick buttons at the top eg home, forum, faq etc all have the button then also display the text in white overlapping it, but thats the only issue, sorry about the delay in replying i saw a notification yesterday but then couldnt find out how to get back to it! this new set up is very nice, you should be very pleased. Any thoughts on a xmas comp for this year, another raffle?

  8. wow, nice site on the main pc will just have to get used to the pda (got to excited and spilt my cup of tea down my leg!) sometimes it shows the posts starting at the bottom of the lefthand ads (as mentioned by everyone else) and sometimes its displaying correctly (even as i have gone through this one thread) but other than that it looks very smart,
  9. not a big issue I dare say but it doesn't display well on windows mobile, lots of overlapping text and takes a lot longer to open, each pages is now well over half a meg in size (may be an issue for people opening the site via wap or gprs) The old version displayed the same on pc and pda, but I will have to wait till this evening to see it on the pc,
  10. there are three example woodland mgmt plans on fc's website in the applying for grants section will try and find the link.
  11. file sent, it has the set up info for all stihl machines, strimmers, construction saws, etc, spark plug gaps carb settings all sorts of useful info and the idle and WOT settings Charlie
  12. I have a pdf at home with the settings for most stihl tools PM me your email addy and i will send it over the weekend when i get to my other computer Charlie
  13. I have bfg at's on my landy that are wider than standard and stick out of the wheel archs, be prepared to get a lot of mud up the side of the truck! even muddy puddles irritate me now, wil be going back to narrower ones next time. also the wider ones aren't great on wet grass as they just float around on top rather that getting a lot of grip
  14. nope not caught out, wifes gone to work and im just chilling with the old wi-fi pda on arbtalk can I be bothered to go and make my bacon and black pudding sandwich. ahhh internet in bed why bother getting up!
  15. lighter one only has one gas strut for hedge cutter heavy one has two for handling the extra weight produced at the pivot point when using a polesaw extended, although if its mostly for hedgecutting/strimming the lighter one may be preferential as it may take less effort to balance it better? i dont know may be worth checking out which is going to be more appropriate to the end use
  16. I had a quick play with it at the show, with the pole saw version (double gas struts) it made the pole saw easy to use at full extension with one hand! the stand at the apf was http://www.overton-uk.co.uk
  17. really, i run my 084 on aspen which is premixed at 50:1 with no problems, I think its more to do with how well the saw is set up and operated. I really dont buy into this I can tune it by ear rubbish, if your saw needs setting up right, get it put on a tacho or take it to your dealers to do, an extra 1000rpm when your running it for long periods of time isnt going to do it any favours especially if your on 50:1...if you dont set saws up properly or have them serviced regularly then 25:1 is probably the safe way to go as it builds in a safety margin.
  18. try http://www.magic.gov.uk sorry you will have to cut and paste the link as im on a pda. (magic is the governments multi agency geographical information) its a bit fiddley to start with but you can get 1:10000 maps and use it for calculating areas and length the maps aren't huge but normally good enough for most things. also you can select and query diferent info so eg you can put on a layer that shows landbased schemes which will show woodland grant schemes etc. also you can search by grid ref, post code, land registery field numbers etc, hope this is of some use, when I can be bothered I may try and produce a quick tutorial guide for it.
  19. my plans for the week are going majorly to pot, desperatly trying to keep friday free, will be seriously hacked off if i dont make it, having missed all the other arb shows this year and it only being 20mins away
  20. PM me your email addy and I will email you a PDF of the bar and chain catalogue Charlie
  21. aspen, endorsed by husky that way if my saws sieze, i view i have some comeback at the dealer that suppys me with kit, prior to that was running the husky xp 50:1 stuff in 4litres of fuel same as the88man! but prefer aspen, and wont let anyone else put normal mix in any of them now, Just out of interest, when did the 064 last have a new filters fitted (fuel oil and air)? as new fuel filters can make quite a difference in older saws
  22. definatly not but if the timber has a potential value they you mill it and remove the beams/planks get a narrow kerf bar if you can something like a 36" .325 0.050 and get a bigger sprocket for the saw, it will save you a lot of time, fuel and make less mess! fair point, must admit i keep thinking i would like to move back but the pay cheques seem to go a lot further up here!
  23. just dont think your going to process a lot of timber in a day! I think it only really comes into its own in a situation where you would otherwise only get a high value timber out in rings. i slab mine up then finish it on a saw bench to do edges etc, also what saw are you planning to run it on? and finally whats unfortunate about being in cambridge?
  24. exhaust modded 084 on either a 36" bar or 17" if im playing. Its also got a bigger sprocket can remember which but I think its on an 8. its a absolutely solid piece of engineering, weights a tonne, but has the auxiliary oiler button which is useful for milling (its a bit loud though )
  25. cool, im trying to be let off decorating for the weekend, If I can make it I will bring the 084 and the alaskan. it would be interesting to see the difference in cuts between this and Andys 090 if he could make it.
