  1. but following all the HSE guidelines would you still need to wear your hearing protection??????
  2. what some sort of arb dating agency?
  3. do you want to pm me your contact info, and i will speak to our reserves guys to see if they have anything on, i know they are doing a fair bit of scrub clearance at cheedale and also willow regen removal at willington (i think) im based over on the River Dove, and suspect most of my work wouldnt be much use to you as i am only doing occasional felling but more looking at how to manage woody material in the river and bankside trees, but if you want to meet up for a chat just let me know. Another bet depending on your location might be to volunteer as a ranger at carsington with seven trent as they do a bit of coppice and thinning in house (the bigger bits of woodland are managed on contract) Charlie
  4. looking to mod my 372xp as its out of warrenty now, it pulls 24" like a beast already but im sure theres more to be had out of it yet, its such a great saw already if it gets better i will get rid of the rest
  5. i am going to make another outlet, that i want a mesh over to stop debris entering, i dont want to go down the route of increasing the porting of the cylinder intake and exhuast ports its a bit to serious really for a work saw
  6. exhuast mod on one of my huskys want to open it up a bit more feels like it could give more buts to restricted
  7. brilliant, cheers. looks like i should be able to get some at halfords tomorrow

  9. you cant begine to imagine my risk assesment, its like war and peace, you can even see my weighted winch blanket in the bottom of the second picture, spill kit in the truck, aspen and bio oil, all boxes ticked best bit was we had fish and chips bought out to us onsite, love days like that
  10. wow.......just wow
  11. the amount of clubs im working with now, im expecting free membership to at least one!
  12. the carbs are normally down tuned from the factory, thats why they say to reset after a couple of tanks, i would run it normally for a few tanks then get the carb set to spot on factory settings
  13. have you bought a lottery ticket yet
  14. hmmm bugger, will have to go back and take it out now in all seriousness it means that the fish have some cover the swim through and under to reduce the effect of goosanders, basically about a 100years of removing all the vegetation from the river has stuffed it for fish and other wildlife which is why wild brown trout are now a biodiveristy priority species
  15. a couple of pics from the week before christmas, laying the willlows into the river to provide trout cover from predators, and also tidying up some sycamores on a river bank to use the timber fastened in elsewhere to prevent erosion.
  16. the way the locals and national park are up here everything is easier if its secret
  17. no this work is the other way on, although if you passing up through the staffs edge of the peak district give us a shout,
  18. Ha they wont need chipping unless you bringing your swimming trunks to fetch them back out this is river conservation at the sharp end felling them into the channel for fisheries improvement (a complete 180 from about 5years ago) although i may have something you might be interested in (top secret) will have a chat with the relevent people, some other habitat improvement works, defo will have to meet up for a beer and chat about mogs
  19. hope the job is easier than many of my riverbank tree jobs, i have had some unpredictable alders recently that look fine and are rotten half a mile? i hope its not to heavily wooded been to look at 25 trees today for a job and recon its about 2-3days work, i hate having to try and fell stuff above head hight whilst working in the river not a bad firewood if well seasoned
  20. there was some on ebay last week!
  21. good work, but under the wildlife and countryside act 1981 as ammended how do you ensure that there are no moles in the burrows as the use of explosives (and explosive gas mixtures) is prohibited for killing wild animals and there is a legal responsibility to ensure there are no live animals present. If you have gassed them already distroying burrows seems a bit pointless?? I can see the point on rabbit burrows where you want to prevent re-occupation but not on mole runs?
  22. looking for a gaff near cambridge? my parents is for sale
  23. I think any of the 4x4 trucks will be a fortune to run if you drive flat out everywhere, my landy drops to the mid-low teens (MPG) if i thrash it but will return mid twenties if driven sensibly (its a 130 twin cab 2600kg on the weighbridge) older rangers/2500 will drink a lot of fuel if pushed hard or driven off road a lot, by the way there is a b2500 on earborist at the mo but its quite high mileage and 7years old i think, well in budget though
  24. i have a mate that works for triumph motorbikes, if you want me to put you in touch pm me your contact info Charlie
