i think there is no reason why it should be an issue Stevie, but i have found in most of mine they run better after a re-tune, they would all run on it its not like they were spluttering and dying, but they did run better after being sorted, but then if people arent checking the settings on a regular basis it may not be that noticable, but because i have a tacho i check mine reasonably regularly and its not a problem for me to do.

i enjoy a bit of fly fishing on the local rivers, and every so often i catch something, and during the winter i enjoy a bit of goose and pheasant shooting and the odd day after deer aswell always good for putting dinner on the table

Hi Just a quick heads up, if people do switch over to aspen to try I have found in many of my saws they have required the carbs re setting (with a tacho!) to get them running to the best of their ability, most noticably this has been with the bigger saws and strimmers ie 372xp and bigger saws and on my clearing saws, the most noticable effect of swapping initally was the fact the saws would bog very severely if you opened the throttle wide quickly. I have spoken to AAoils about this and they suggested I put up a thread on the subject. If you swap and expect equipment to run perfectly this may not be the case, I will add before everyone goes off on one about "oh well thats another thing to faff about with" that i have done it on all my saws and they run a lot better now for it, but I now run everything on aspen rather than swapping between that and normal mix. I would prefer if this could stay as a technical thread about running the fuel rather than degenerating into critising the product Charlie

I would be keen to know if AAoils could set up a scheme to reuse/recycle the plastic 5ltr drums as they are very heavy duty containers and for those of us that cant merit buying the 200ltr drums it does seem very wasteful and also in my eyes it does detract from the environmental benefits when i have to dispose of them at the tip as a waste product, knowing full well they will be going to landfill. This is also an issue that has been discussed on here in the past. Would it be possible to set up a scheme were by the local dealers had a bulk drum that we could then refill these out of and offer it at a price half way between the 5ltr and bulk prices so there is a financial benefit to doing this? anyway im starting to ramble but as a keen user and advocate of Aspen it would be good to see if something could be done to address this. this is what i found Mike, i was noticing fumes more when working hedge laying or clearing scrub in ditches, so the fumes dont clear at all. I use it in all my equipment but then im not using 10ltrs a day if i was then i may have to review the situation, or just inform people why my day rate is £10 higher, I work on sensitive sites and it supprises me how few people bother using environmental fuels

yep thats the jobbie it allows you to see where you are, and record data, that should automatically gather the GPS location and allows you to record any information you choose to. Easier than having a pda and a seperate GPS system

Hi Hama, I dont think you will be getting high accuracy using a oregon 400t, also entering data by reading from one to enter on the other is inherently going to cause problems (if i understand you correctly this is what your thinking?), a better set up would be something like a gps enabled pda Buy Dell Axim X51 and Garmin Mobile 10 Bundle and set it up with something like geopad, which you will need to customise for your use, if you have to enter to much info into a pda, you may as well be using a pencil and paper, i have done of lots of field survey work with people and if its not quick and easy, then pen and paper will reign supreme with most people and re the OS data, most mobile GIS systems will have a desktop component that you can register a free maps into as a picture,

I have some plans i can copy and drop down for an oil drum set up. Is this ready for the huge bbq you guys are building, going to need a kilo or two or charcoal for that beast

We have a bat box III which is about £160 hetrodyne set up and good for basic detection purposes but not ideal for really detailed breakdown of some of the other species, its the standard beginners bat detector and a great talking point with people, many of the cheaper ones dont actually have the range to make them much use unless your right underneath where the bats are coming out of a roost our new set up is a bat box duet at about £250 but has both time expansion and hetrodyne so you can listen to the speaker when your out and then you can record (we have a alesis palmtrack MP3 recorder £100) it and play it back on the computer using some anaylsis softwear

tbh one more game an hopefully the whole ordeal will be over and TV can get back to normally, i cant actually believe that three weeks ago people were talking about us winning it :lol:

looks superb, bet the bat detecting was interesting, its great once you get into it, the wife has just had a new detector from work, which plugs into a MP3 recorder and you can then analyse the sonographs once you get home to check the identification properly, looks an ace site, and well managed

the wife has been out surveying on the in laws farm this morning, and found two species of orchids, she is going back to get some pics in a bit so i will post them up Thats a nice field of poppys reminds me of Norfolk in summer
