  1. Hi Dave, i had a similar problem on my old 106, i found the best course of action was to disconnect the siren
  2. surely a puff ball is for eating, its to good for burning as fire lighters very tasty (not the one it the pics above, i mean giant puffballs! before anyone trys eating a cramp ball)
  3. coal fungus, cramp balls or King Alfred's cakes, latin Daldinia concentrica i think you need to dry it and keep in a small tin dry, ready to use for fire lighting nuts 30seconds to slow and it was one i could ID as well
  4. i am still un convinced by chip boilers being the mainstream answer everyone expects them to be, I suspect as tree workers and having access to a ready supply of chip, but its the storage and handling that i dont really see as being the answer, as and when i get round to renovating my house in a big way, this is the approach i will be going for Wood Burning Boilers | Accumulator Tanks | Biomass Boilers | Biomass Heating | Log Fired Boilers the chip boilers can be a bit picky on feeding the material on domestic set-ups if the quality is to variable, I have advised several people towards these, and a farmer in the village has just installed a log boiler, and one in North Lincs is just getting sorted out with one as well, downside is explaining to people that the timber needs to be sensible, the guy in the village is burning green cedar and as such i dont expect that the set up will last to long without problems occuring, as the M/C needs to 22% or lower, as its not a direct replacement for a farm2000 until someone perfects a system that will burn reasonably fresh chip of a variable quality i will maintain that log boilers are the way to be going, I know this doesnt solve our problems reguarding disposal of a waste product, as most the small biomass plants require material that has been through a biomass chipper and as such is likely to be small roundwood from forestry anyway, so on a smaller or farm based domestic set ups you may as well just buy in the small round wood and cut it to length for the log boiler rather than paying for it to be chipped then have to deal with material handling at both ends, anyway just my view of the situation
  5. sorry will try and find something more taxing next time,
  6. any ideas on what it is?
  7. the bush hogs arent bad, we have one on a shoot near here which does a tidy job on the rides, there was a tidy one in a farm sale down here about 3 wks ago that only made about £200, i prefer a flail though, especially on heavier stuff like brambles or juncus but for tidying rides up they are a great tool
  8. I use a husky one, but the green petrol filler is a pita, as you have to hold it to return it manually after a while, also would a vent be to much to ask for, so on hot days when you forget to release the pressure first you wouldnt get dosed in fuel
  9. that looks like a mountain hare to me to Steve be prepared for every short cut you sat nav uses to get to the towes to have signs telling you to turn round or turn the sat nav off!
  10. im sure you will be fine, its just on busy days the tailbacks to get in can be about 4-5miles but if your getting in early on tuesday morning you will be ok, if you leave getting there till after 9.30 though expect a decent que to get their, are you following a sat nav?
  11. Steve hav fun at Alton towers, but head either earlier or later don't aim to arrive between 9 an 10 as you will que for miles, and spare a thought for us poor sods that have to try and put up with the trafic all summer happy easter everyone, the church service here was at 6am so didn't quite make that one, just off for dinner with the in laws now before my folks come up for a few days. oh and apparently im on an arbtalk ban so im on my pda hiding
  12. your ok i didnt mean you sounded argumentative, i was trying to make sure i didnt sound like i was its good your after the info,
  13. hmm if you tow a trailer with people in it, do you have to have the drawbar tested as technically thats lifting people? tractor steps should be done, as well then, where does it end, so do you need to be shown how to use the hand rail to get into a tractor, should you not be using the hand rail if you cant lift your own weight, or if your tired (weather you should be operating the tractor tired is completely different regs) or is it best just to live in the real world and ignore the quirks of the system? i mean a climber falling because of a rope failing is one thing, but slipping off a set of tractor steps?
  14. good point Hama' i carry a card in my wallet that identifies the fact i work on ground where i could come into contact with wiels and also lymes disease as well if working on moorland with high levels of ticks, its also noted on my electronic nhs medical file, so if i go to the docs feeling rough or get rushed into hospital with similar symptoms they know to test for it,
  15. yes give the guy a shout, hes helpful enough, turn out the th3 with sordin dual pro fm defenders is less than 200grams heavier than a basic husky helmet
  16. dont know i dont work that quickly no seriously the only time i have got to hot is when i have been wielding an axe splitting timber whilst wanting to listen to the radio, the vents arent huge, on it, and it sits on your head like a push bike helmet, its not a harness, but to be honest, i prefer it to my husky and petzl helmets, i just find it more comfortable, and pretty stable, they do look pretty bulky and heavy but even with fm defenders on they arent to bad, i might nip and weight mine just out of interst
  17. I have a terrain TH3,(mine is not in hi-viz) but they do them in white with hi viz vent inserts, which are also photo luminsecent so if working in dark or low light conditions they illuminate quite nicely would imagine they would be really handy if doing work at night! Terrain Advanced ATV & Quad Bike helmets - Professional Head Protection or ring Nick Cooke 0161 654 4765 for some reason in the forestry helmet part of the site, the colours are limited, but i would give them a ring as they are very helpful, i have had mine since beginning of decemeber, and i think its a good helmet, wear it on the quad, strimming, splitting logs mainly cos i had fm defenders fitted as well
  18. yep i have looked at the saturn blades, once its all up and running i want to get a spare set, but the ones on it are fairly tidy, I think this is about the biggest chipper i would want to be pulling with my ATV anyway which was part of the reason for going for a smaller machine, and this one came in well under budget, and is more than enought for what i want as its not going to be used daily and through the summer it will probably stand idle quite a bit, so buying something very expensive is just out the window, but renting isnt really an option as this winter jobs have been shifted about cos of the weather etc, so having your own kit is just easier
  19. yes it is, its only going to have small brash put through it anyway so not fussed about the lack of power to much
  20. picked up: via this forum, Condition: carb strip and clean, no drive belts, wireloom shot to bits, ignition knacked, no solenoid, fuel pump strip and rebuild as not working, just need to do some minor welding to tidy it up, then a clean off of the rust and respray, basically it has sat outside for a long time, the flywheels and bearings are all spot on, but it looks a bit tatty, put it this way it still has the warning stickers in the feed hopper, despite the plate on the engine putting it at 1990 Money: not a lot (plus about £120 for parts and wd-40 in serious ammounts and my time for all the bits and rebuilding the engine)
  21. has the plastic handle your student uses to help him get in the landy got a loler test on it though?
  22. chees everyone for the help and contact numbers much appreciated, i have had a fiddle about and it appears extra padding had been put into the case, and an 038 type does just fit, and is a lot more reasonable, I have just spoken to a few places the prices vary from £60 at two large mainstream tyre and battery places, but the local motor factors has just done me a very good deal on his last exide one (£40), apparently many of the manufacturers are stopping making this size battery, and this was the last one they have in stock, but its got to come from the other depot, so i will be picking it up on my way past on Friday, Cheers again Guys, much appreciate your help on this, and Martin cheers for that No. always handy to have info on local co's that can get stuff in quickly, especially if they do ag bits as well,
  23. Dean why the front end loader just out of interest? as it was my understanding these were excempt unless you lift yourself or someone else up with it?
  24. I will start of with recently I was on a site, the tractor hand bars that you pull yourself up into the cab with have to now be loler'd I do wonder where this will end, also how many L/A staff on here have taken this level of precaution with machinery
  25. i could just get 220 in but the other measurements are exact as the foam padding takes up the remainder of the space, on the online battery measurements they have 20mm lea way on them anyway when they search, just trying to find the spec on a 036/038 battery
