  1. local agri chemical suppliers, mine are about 60% of the prices buying it online, as it has to be couriered so the shipping kills any benefit most the time also why round up pro B is it a SSSI or wetland site? I have recently be trying using Gallup 360 (very similar to round up pro b 360) as it has aquatic approval for wetlands and also forest approval its about £25 for 5ltrs!
  2. windows smart phone! so other for me
  3. I have fitted a few ebay ones, I havent ever had a problem with them if the installation is done properly with new gaskets etc, but they are a far cry from the quality of orignial parts, i did one recently that i should think the cooling fins are 50-75% thicker than the original ones and the cylinder weighed about twice as much and the finish wasnt as good, but for the price difference you can fit about 5ebay ones to one original one, so even if they dont last as long its not a problem
  4. that 38 degrees website is probably the worst for scare mongering, i will be the first to sign your petition against they do give a lot of misinformed information in such an emotive manner that it gets reactions
  5. I know of 5 round here in gardens, that have all died this winter I have to say I'm not upset as I was worried about this increasing trend to try growing them as biomass crop, hopefully this will set back our woodlands being converted to euc, with the same problems they have had in Spain and Portugal in euc plantations
  6. er what about the women that were being used as a sheild
  7. had a chat to some American friends and they are really worried about traveling over the next few weeks, I just wonder how many separate splinter organisations this will cause as there will no doubt be a al-qaeda power struggle now

    Mayfly

if they had black dangly back legs there were hawthorn flys pretty common at this time of year, completely harmless but seem to freak people out for some reason if you have mayflies you must have some flowing water or a clean pond in your woodland as mayflies are aquatic inverts, and are great for us fly-fishers as its one of the main food sources for trout also most of the midges about at this time of the year are chironmids, so are non-biting, see this link to see how many of these you have swatted as mosquitos Chironomidae - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia their larvae are the little small wormy things swimming round that you get in pockets of any water such as water troughs and in barrels or buckets that get left with water in them for a few months over summer
  9. you will, they are aweful stick to booms and do the job properly!
  10. i use one of the davies tractors ones (America imported Fimco), which has a high output pump on it, pressures the spray tank to 40psi then the pump only cuts in on demand so its not running the whole time if you using the hand lance. Decent 3mtr booms with proper nozzles that can be swapped, the tank also has the hand lance and a built in aggitator so you can mix the chemicals properly first mine is about 5years old and works faultlessly, and has heavy duty brackets for the booms will it be living on the bike as they arent that quick to swap on an off, takes about 30mins to set mine up so the tank lives on the front rack so i can use it as ballast if i have the seed hopper on the back as well
  11. no this is just for some survey work, I havent done the mazes for a few year since my Uncle and Aunt got sorted with the kit and knowledge to do it themselves, was good fun doing that though!
  12. steal one
  13. i didnt really, as its not a brand i have ever used and had read some mixed reviews online they look a very smart unit though. also i cant see the functionality on their website for gathering waypoint and then using these for navigation to and from OSGB grid refs? maybe worth a phone call though to their sales department
  14. Hi all, I need to do some remote area surveys soon, and i need a GPS ideally with basemapping of either 1:50k or 1:25K I dont need mobile GIS so the digiterra units not coming with me, I have been eyeing up the Garmin Dakota 20 with uk OS base mapping, Has anyone used one of these units? or should I just stick to the tried and tested Etrex Vista. Or has anyone really splashed out for a GPS62st which can take maps from google earth etc? I need decent battery life (8hrs minimum) ability to capture waypoints (with at least 50characters) navigate to way points (essential) OS maps would be an advantage AA batteries (so if they do go flat they can be swapped) compact enough to slip in a pocket but big enough screen to see multiple points within say a 50mtr radius any others i should consider:confused1: cheers
  15. heres a little (over 2ft long) grass snake sunning itself in the woods weekend before last, it was still pretty slow and in no rush to move luckily the terrier had failed to spot it
  16. do it, i just swapped some saws for a new 346xpg with a 13" microlite pro bar and chain, and also an 8pin drive sprocket so it really motors through timber even if you have to do reduction cuts on bigger stuff upto about 18" inchs
  17. I think its the sideburns they seem to add a few years
  18. yes it is husky do one but i would go for the oregon one. either micro lite or micro lite pro, both narrow kerf, i have the pro on my 346xpg and the other on my 340e, both are good bars and run oregon 95vpx chain or you can get a power match or pro lite bars if you want the wider kerf, but tbh i love the narrow kerf on the smaller saws. use the oregon selector guide on their website OREGON®: Selector Guide
  19. seriously 19 people over the age of 45 using an internet forum, pull the other one do you have to get the kids to turn the computer on for you  (Im 29 for another 2months anyway)
  20. Hi Jon. I fancy something like this nice green oak frame OAK TIMBER FRAME OUTBUILDINGS, GARAGES, BARN DOUBLE BAY on eBay (end time 01-May-11 11:53:45 BST) recon you could get a small office in the loft as well
  21. definatly country, there are 13 houses in the village im in now I have never lived in a town (except for about 3months for two nights a week) hated it I cant do with being in towns, occasionally for a night out but i wouldnt want to live in one (plus parking the 130 would be a nightmare )
  22. was it on moorland or blanket bog? moorland wouldnt be so bad, although a reasonable range of waders utilise this habitat, if its on blanket bog this is a very rare fragile habitat that we have a significant % of the worlds resource of upland blanket bog, which support huge amounts of red data book species including birds, invertebrates, plants, fungi, most upland blanket bog is SSSI/SAC due to the international importance of this land. Its not as clear cut as just pulling trees off a grouse moor. Which area of the country is this in as i may be able to point you to the relevant natural england contact who would be overseeing the agreement carrying out the work, so you can speak to them directly to find out why the work is being carried out
  23. on with the same tomorrow, got a new shiney pair of sip type a's to try and i just doing the cutting and doing the herbicide as im going:thumbup: oh and got about 10 alder trunks to ring up and and shift apparently this is supposed to be finished by dinner time
  24. i have the portek version of that type, its well made and quick enough for my use, you can only run and 18" bar on them i think from memory, although i think thats more for safety so the bar doesnt stick out the end of the cover, but also i think you may struggle to fit bigger than 18" dia logs between the saw holder and the size of the tray. I have run a 372 on mine but tbh its normally the 340husky as its the most fuel efficent and on a narrow kerf chain so less wastage and sawdust to deal with
  25. if the whole woodland is fenced at 8ha in one block, you could have a good number of munti's in there and never see them, i would be cutting some decent rides and getting some deer lawns set up near suitable trees for a high seat, if the woods getting EWGS WIG's funding you could try and tap them up for the cost of the high seat as i know i have seen figures in one of the WIG budgets for high seats and deer management
