    the face

That was THE "Green Man" and he ain't very happy now
  2. Keep us informed Peckerwoo! Good work mate!
  3. Are you sharpening it in a vice or just freehand ? Photos of your cutters on the chain would help.
  4. Sounds unlikely somebody would go to the bother of felling hawthorn, of all species, just for logs. Especially as you wouldn't want to hang around for long and get caught.
  5. Every Landy I have ever had leaks. On your first Landy you spend ages trying to cure it. On the second one you try again with less enthusiam. On the third and subsequent Landy you just accept they leak and live with it. They have only been making them fifty odd years after all.
  6. Hey, not to worry this governments going to get rid of red tape like this:lol:
  7. Oh, that will be the dormouse friendly one then!
  8. I have found the "Oregon 2 tooth brushcutter blade" works very well for mulching up bramble. Stihl make a similar blade as well.
  9. Really good post. We need more like that!
  10. Kubota parts are VERY expensive. Although excellent bits of kit I have never been very impressed with the main dealer parts set up. It would be useful to know how other manufactuers compare on spares, availability and price.
  11. I was hoping to see some replies to this thread as I had been considering one but mainly for hedging. I guess not many people on here have experience of them. I had a mate who had one and he didn't like it. I can't remember why. I think there may be a "turning action" on the shaft which may be hard on the arms and wrists.
  12. I think Ben Law set a new precedent for building in a woodland, but wasn't it only for his lifetime? It was on Grand Designs.
  13. I am convinced there are GOOD caps and there are BAD caps. End of story.

    Stihl drill BT45

I bought one a while back now and use Hex shank drills for drilling timber posts etc. I got a good deal on a set of drills. (They weren't Stihl) Not sure, but I would guess with the power available a round drill and a SDS drill , without an adaptor, would slip under load. There isn't any hammer action so probably not ideal for large masonry drills.

    Post Rammer

Hire one from a hire shop, less than £20- HSS Hire - Post Driver Hire and Rent
  17. I seem to remember a statistic that we import more timber than any other country in the world bar Japan. Something is drastically wrong when you consider how much of the land being currently grazed and subsidised could be afforested.
  18. What a great idea! There's loads of rain forest out there after all.
  19. Nice one! That's valuable information.
  20. Did you use a wetting agent with it?
  21. Here is the Roundup Pro Biactive label just out of interest. It confirms the FC guide, after a lot of reading! : - http://www2.monsanto-ag.co.uk/publications/ProBiactive_product_information_guide_final.pdf
  22. Thats a H&S issue, you dont want to get Roundup in your face! If you end up spraying at 2% Roundup solution can you let us know whether it was succesful. It would be good to know it works in practice. The less you need to use the better.
  23. I always put some red dye in the mix when doing stumps as it makes it easier to see where you have been. It fades after few days. Tried it on foilar spraying but it doesnt work very well.
  24. Just read that FC link and it does say 2% Roundup for foliar spray
  25. Roundup should be 10%, wetting agent 2%, yellow cone is probably the best nozzle to use.
