  1. I had a set of BFG MTs before and I know what you mean about mud clogging up but I think that is inevitable on a road compromise tyre. Its probably about as good as you can get and still hold the tarmac!
  2. I bought a set of 235/85/16 from Paddock recently complete with rims for my my Landy, £630 delivered. Well impressed so far, on and off road.
  3. I don't think that BT have cleared around their lines routinely since Privitisation. Its a huge cost so they are not going to do it unless they have to. Like you I have often wondered what the legal situation was.
  4. Dont forget you must have consent for works to trees in a Conservation Area
  5. If you use pallets etc I found you get rats, mice & rabbits move in because you have left a nice, dry emtpy void!
  6. Who replaces them routinely unless they are bust? Do they harden with age?Just wondered if it really would reduce vibration levels significantly by fitting new ones on older saws.
  7. Dont worry he probably meant "price of fish"
  8. I don't know about courses at Saltram but these Training Providers are local to the area. They may be running them- lynhertraining.co.uk Kensey Training Ltd
  9. Good photos, specially the last one, mmm
  10. Is it snowing?
  11. Or egg thieving.
  12. "...AND NO ONE KNOWS YOU HAVE BEEN THERE " Why would that matter then?
  13. Could it just be down to logistics. Fernworthy has no good road links. It all has to go through Chagford on small lorries. What with the cost of diesel etc it may be uneconomic to shift it to a suitable market? Better going as firewood locally!
  14. We used to put them on the post lying down and then stand them up to bang in Never thought of that. Thats a good tip!
  15. Forget the trailer it will tip over too easily. I have used a B6000 Kubota to drag small loads out and also with using Pallet Forks and stacking timber on it. Straight up and down is okay but turning on a slope is very iffy. Either way its all slow and you can't carry that much.
  16. I thought I read somewhere it was to stop Johnny terrorist using it to make bombs?
  17. One important thing I like about Internet buying is I can sit down at 8 o'clock at night and order stuff in comfort with just a few clicks. Much better than ringing up in the middle of the day and waiting for someone to answer, then look it up and then spell out your address etc.
  18. I have exactly the same watch and same age, but lost the plastic surround about ten years ago. Its still works fine. I've just lashed out a few quid for a resin strap off ebay, should be good for at least another 20 years ...
  19. I sharpen the blades with a flat file, anything else and I reckon you would lose the right angle. Its very tedious and fiddly, so itd doesn't get done as often as it should. WD40 or similar is good for chasing water off at the end of the day but soon evaporates and won't do much for lubrication of the blades
  20. Strange how you can get your vehicle impounded for carrying "waste" but present a cast iron flytipping case to the authorities and they don't want to know! One earns them easy revenue the other costs them, simple as that.
  21. I keep a jam jar of oil and a 2" paint brush on the workshop bench and liberally coat the blades at the end of the day, then put the scabbard back on. The other thing I have just discovered the hard way is to only use genuine stihl grease in the gearbox. Seems like any other grease just melts.
  22. I picked up a Fletcher Stewart 2009 catalogue yesterday and there in black & white it says " Stretch Air now recommend that all their chainsaw trousers are worn with braces". I checked the instructions that came with my Stretch Airs and definitely no mention of wearing braces. Draw you own conclusions...
  23. I've got the Gladiators type A which I like a lot but I recently cut the internal gaiter bit out at the end of the legs, which lets more air circulate. Certainly cooler than equivalent Husky pairs but can't believe I paid £175 and then butchered them!
  24. Is it a key? Took me a while to see it but it maybe an elephant hawk moth caterpillar?
  25. Could it be the spark arrestor filter, if fitted, on the exhaust clogged? Had that on a few Stihl machines over the years.
