  1. Bitumen! Damn! Tried so hard to avoid that while painting the roof.
  2. 61cc engine and 20" bar according to the manual
  3. Just found this on another Forum- "Forestry chiefs cannot make law, and by 'overruling' Magna Carta they have assumed the duties of Parliament. If a right can be altered or removed it is then a privilege, and not a right. A right granted under Magna Carta cannot be usurped by Parliament, as the Magna Carta was one of the documents that gave rise to Parliament. The Magna Carta is still on the statute books. Challenge the Forestry chiefs. I'd carry on collecting the wood, and challenge them to take it to court! A right is a right, and is peremptory in UK law! A right is a right! Full stop! No arguments! End of! "
  4. Its just not been the same since Zöe Salmon left..
  5. No, take all that PPE off!
  6. Doesn't mean we haven't got one- Just object too having to have it in the first place. "Believe nothing. No matter where you read it, or who said it, even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." ~ Buddha
  7. Today I had a rant from an affleunt neighbour that 0830 was too early to start making "chainsaw noise". Seems reasonable to me.
  8. Its best to leave it to decay naturally as part of the natural life cycle of everything! Standing dead wood is one of the rarest habitats left, due to over zealous tidying up and the litigious world we live in. Just enjoy the woodpeckers, stag beetles, bugs & bats etc that move in while we still have some left!
  9. I use a fine tipped soldering iron to melt my surname, postcode and date into main plastic parts.
  10. Often there is a difference between what they would like to see happen and what is the Law. We need a lawyer on this forum!
  11. I like trees but eat more chips
  12. There's a lot of good info on - http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/index.php
  13. What a "state" we live in eh? ! Everybody meets their targets and its Win Win for the "Revenue collectors" Much easier than solving proper crime.
  14. Did anybody else think how easy it was to look at the "public register" on the EA site? I'm betting you couldn't find such info about a MP or Minister or Civil Servant so fast!
  15. [Picture this. Pikey truck is tootling down the road with a pile of brash in the back. with the new regs, they can be stopped and asked to prove they are legally carrying that material. If they cant proove it, wahay, truck gets confiscated and a heavy fine. Works for me. Okay so he buys his Licence, the STEALH TAX is paid and he still flytips. The bad guys are always one step ahead. Its only the good guys who get inconvienced.
  16. So what's this all about? Stopping flytipping? It wont stop that in the same way as having an ID card wont stop terrorism. No, its just another STEALTH TAX and control mechanism. The good guys pay up through fear and the dodgy ones carry on or move on to the next scam.
  17. Of course, if they had a Waste Carriers Licence it would have stopped them.
  18. What I don't understand is, I thought all this "Where there's Blame, there's a Claim" stuff that we have to put up with now, originated from the USA. If so how they can get away with 100 dead a year and no ones bankrupted?
  19. May be wrong but in the first picture that looks like a pretty big bat roost from all that brown staining on the trunk.
  20. We bought a 9 acre pasture field in 1994 and planted it up with a mix of broadleaf and conifer. Probably the best decision I ever made. Its a bit like watching a kid growing up I guess. This year the squirrels moved in and barkstripped 90% of all the oak in one season!
  21. I'm thinking of buying a Stihl 45 drill for fencing work etc. One thing that concerns me is, what drills does it take, eg SDS. Don't want to fork out for another set of drills.
  22. Just remember the speed that the heads are going and a part of the chain flies off and you are anywhere near joe public :-( You don't get this with a zip cord line which will also take out bramble.
  23. On this years Rights of Way contract in Devon, for the first time, you couldn't use a chainsaw unless you were a member of the AA or ISA. Does every council now adopt this policy? This is despite needing to see every certificate under the sun and more.
  24. Have the 85 and the 86 with 40" bar. Prefer the 86 as its lighter. Had no trouble with it yet.
  25. That will be "belt & braces" then...
