  1. Orange plant.
  2. At one of our regulars, the neighbours built a bungalo about 1.5m from a nicely maintained 5m hedge, they cut the low branches so it was bare to 3m, then the council to forced my client the hedge owners to reduce it to 4m. Looked stupid, hedge owner in tears, threats of violence, police called statements taken...
  3. The reason I want a bigger truck is to stop being overloaded, it kinda defeats the point if I'm just going to be overloaded in a bigger truck.... I'll hopefully be looking at a low milage 65c17 this week..
  4. I guess I'll stop looking at the 50s then! If you filled it with chip do you think you would be over the 6.5ton?
  5. This is why I have been getting confused!
  6. I think:confused1: I've just worked out that the c15/c17 relates only to the length of the tipper, so a crewcab 65c17 is going to be longer then a single cab 65c17. So a crew cab 65c15 will be about the same size as your 65c17.. Either way, I recon a single cab 65c17 or double cab 65c15 is what I want!
  7. Is it the 65C15? Just what I'm looking for..
  8. When placing it on ARBTALK initially my intention was to offer it to anyone, hence the reason for posting it publicly. It did not come across that way in the post I should have taken more care. I admit I may have been hasty in placing a figure and undervalued it, the amount of interest made me re-think my method of sale. Started it at £200 on EBAY, so who knows maybe I made a mistake!
  9. I offered it on ARB talk, got lots of interest, so have got round to selling on EBAY to hopefully find it's true value!
  10. ON EBAY: Log Grab for loader tractor on eBay (end time 03-Mar-11 22:09:23 GMT) Good condition, all pipes tested and working with no leaks. Heavy duty design Twin arms - operate independantly Carries large volumes of small and large logs Transport bundles or sawn timber in safety Collection from DE72. We can help load it!
  11. I started to get issues, I try not to use a saw all day share the jobs around. The new saws with heated handles are great. Important to keep the saw sharp! The new stihl blower has anti vibe.
  12. I was thinking of changing my mitzy pinin, always think of a landrover, had a s3 15 years ago which I loved... Had a 5 min ride in a defender last week and remembered what it was really like...... Loud, slow and uncomfortable.... I don't need to tow 3.5 tons over a muddy mountain very often and we have a 4wd tractor when we do!
  13. About 8 or 9 years ago, I was in a similar position to you, found work at City Care in Christchurch, they had lots of brits on working holiday visa's.
  14. £7-£10 a ton
  15. We blew ours up a few years ago, stuck a new engine on it and since altering the spout now rate it above our tw 190.
  16. We've used them before, most are pants.....! Some have only lasted a day.. But we kept one on for a year and our current groundy after a slow start is turning out to be a good dependable groundie. I would not have paid him when he first came to us. Now looking at putting him through his saw tickets. As to paying guys on trial days, we're looking to recruit and have had four guys, and they all did a good days work. We didn't pay them, I thought about it but you don't get paid for an interview which could easily last all day.
  17. My Mitzy Bongo will apparently run fine with no modifications on a cooking oil and derv mix. Get a preheater and it will run on 100% cooking oil. A guy on the bongo forum claims to have done 100,000miles on waste oil..! Emmisions can have a smell depending on the source of the oil. If using waste oil apparently it is best to let it settle for a couple of months, then take from the top and filter. I'll get round to trying it soon..
  18. We get paid for our chip. We wait till we have 2 or 3 artic loads and get a local farmer with telehandler to load it, last time we got a cheque for over £500. AHS are always calling us wanting it. It's not all hard wood either, everything stored on soil. We are careful about making sure that there are no logs, and careful when loading not to get any soil, but if the chip is dirty/contaminated then you can get paid £5 a ton if it gets screened first. Let them know when you load it though as it goes to a different plant and if they reject it you won't get anything. Don't pay to dump it! As others have said, find a farmer or a stables.
  19. I think you pay 12.5% now under forestry although I think you get a 1% discount in the first year. You charge 20%, took me a while to get my head round it. It is simple, just pay 12.5% of your sales to the VAT man! As said you can claim the VAT on capital purchases (stuff - not services or fuel etc) over £2k You don't have to keep lots of receipts, so apart from the VAT returns there isn't allot of paperwork. You can pay your VAT monthly or what you think it will be to save a big shock at the end of the year
  20. I turned up to do a job and found another firm doing the work! Stupid customer had booked us both! They were there first so I went and found something else to do.
  21. We're on the flat rate, works well for us!
  22. Anyone know where I can get an axe with a thin grip for my eldest 7th birthday... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJYK-QZnKJg]YouTube - Chopping logd[/ame]
  23. Question is, what to do with it all?? Chip it! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/3628-11-poplars-fell-3.html
  24. How do you find the iveco compares with 3.5tonners.
  25. I tested ours today and all the hydralics were fine, both claws are independent. It will be on ebay in the near future..! When I get a minute.
