  1. Pic's of our new (to us) very yellow Iveco. Thoughts on signwriting please. I like simple and clear but not sure either mock up are right.
  2. Hazel is 3 in the picture, I know she's not the slightest of children...! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/27989-getting-cheaper-contract-climber-rates.html You can pick up the center or DMM harness for peanuts on ebay
  3. The DMM Alpine will go from small to big, got some video someplace

  5. Our renewal had something similar, plus we were not allowed to fell a tree within so many tree lengths of biulding etc... They didn't mention to us that it was worthless for a tree surgery firm just sent the renewal! It also went up by over £1000 which in a way was lucky as I probably wouldn't have bothered reading the fine print and realised it was no longer suitable! We had been with them about 6 years, changed to some one advertising on arb talk for less money:001_smile:
  6. I thought the 10K reserve was hopefull. Max bid of £5,100.00.
  7. We've used Callum for reducing street trees and would again in the future.
  8. Epicormic Control of Street Trees - How many can a two man team do in a day on average? Limes mostly, removed annually.
  9. I need a to trim 5km-9km of hedges Does any one have or know of a place that hires a compact tractor with small hedge cutter or flail? Or can you get one on the back of a quad?
  10. If you were to have an accident when overloaded then I imagine they would throw the book at you.. That's the reason we've gone to the iveco 6.5 tonner.
  11. I don't think its been stretched, just a standard sp10. It's body size is about the same as a 110 would be *although a bit narrower. They have the GVW as 3300 when I think it is only 3,050kg like a standard 110. It was on a few weeks ago but didn't reach it's reserve after 16 bids at £7002. The GVW means it can't legally hold much and I don't think you can fit a third seat. Plus they're not making them any more and santana is no more.. and the iveco massif is also no longer happening.. But if might be about half the price of one with a green oval.. I am very tempted.... But the GVW kills it for me.
  12. We put a marine ply back on our first transit as a temporary thing when we started up over 7 years ago. It's still fine... In that time it's had 2 coats of paint.
  13. I think Stobarts give us £9 a ton now.. We were offered similar or possibly more from Boomco but we've been using stobarts for a while now and it's easier to stick with what you know if it works. You have to have clean chip to get the max price, any sneaky logs, rakings etc and they will reject it. They say you can have it back but have to pay for the haulage. If your not sure of the condition they can take it and sort it but you get less per ton. They took 3 truck loads a couple of weeks ago. We get a local farmer to load £250 and he can do 3 arctics in a day no problem. It's not going to make you rich but we were paying to spread it on the feilds a few years ago... We've stopped giving it to the horsey ladies, unless it really suits us.
  14. Tell me you cant see T1 and T2. The map is from their web site. The garden isless then 10x7m or 30x21ft..
  15. They are crappy conifers, a hedge really. I put the height above the ground they were to be cut too. I just don't understant why they could not have looked at the map and drawn on theirs, it is from the same data. As to using metric.. 1ft = 0.3m..
  16. Bargain at £1,700 We use the more affordable (under £400) Oregon Chain Grinder. Works fine but you have to know what your doing. A numpty can mess up chains with it. We had an employee who managed to mess up lots by not taking care.
  17. Got this reply to an application today?? The colour sketch plan is the one I sent first This black and white is what they require.... but could not put the crosses on. Am I missing the point... or do they just want to waste my time?
  18. Students these days...... I put up a couple of fliers at the college even handed one to a group of arbs in the library. I thought I'd have loads of phone calls. Not one... They only spend 3 days at college. I thought students might want some paid experience and I could do with a pool of extra staff to call on at short notice. Arborists WANTED: GROUNDS MAN/TRAINEE CLIMBER Part time and occasional extra help required at Canopy Tree Services based in Draycott, DE72 3NX. Desirable to hold relevant NPTC qualifications CS 30, CS31 and CS38 Phone: 0797 032 5361 Email: [email protected]
  19. Have you been thinking about that since it was posted in MAY 2009?
  20. We've had ours a couple of months now. Operator loves it! There was a thread a while ago about them being unstable. We have NOT found it a problem.
  21. Any one got any good things to say about 4x4play Near Durham? PM me if you have bad...
  22. The land Rover Forums aren't as friendly as here.. Thoughts on this to stick a tipper on: £3995 + VAT G reg. so 1990 130" ex Rapier vehicle The engine had frost damage so replaced with Perkins 4203 out of an ex MOD Dodge van with 50,000 miles Front WARN winch that works From the LR forums the perkins has a mixed response. Plenty of torque, but pretty agricultural...?!
  23. With the rates some contract climbers are charging I resorting to training my own... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtqnXMjDnEU]YouTube - Ewan tree climbing[/ame]
  24. How much bigger is the tipper on a single cab 130 compared to the 110? What are the dimensions of your chip boxes....
