  1. Why bother with a 7.5 tonne truck, get a swb 10 or 13 tonne truck. It would not cost that much more to run but will definately carry the right amount.
  2. Totally bizzare! I hope that the perps are caught and appropriately punished. Bring back the stocks and the birch.
  3. No, that is Matt Butler from down by Newbury.
  4. As far as recall - the ones that CBL were selling were all 14hp and demo machines from old stock. Theocus's unit has barely been used and available now so get on and buy it for the missus xmas box!
  5. Alternative Therapy? If it works for you then go for it! I had a go with Reiki (hands on healing) for a load of back pain, it worked, don't know how, but it worked. The girl doing it told me that I had a big aura:blushing: I gave up the fags through brute force and ignorance recently, no aids, no help. (Apart from pleurisy, chest infection and a partially collapsed lung!) Good Luck to your Mum too.
  6. We always had three in the shed of various sizes, our cables had pinched ends on them so we could pull them out of the body when not in use and the cage was kept seperate from the body. Like the tip with the tyre tho' Top marks!
  7. Cool vids Nige, shows the cultural difference right nicely too!
  8. Got a holiday job as a brash rat for an Uncle who been taught by his Dad in the 30's and decided that Uni was not for me. Seventeen years later was MD of the company employing about 12 people and it went sour. Went to work for GreenMech so you could say that I've been in the timber trade since 1982!
  9. Hi Dave, If your 152 has suffered a bent shaft then it should be possible to push the shaft out of the disc in a big press, and fit a new shaft. Chris at treeworks should be able to give you a price for doing that. But I've no clue what that would be. The whole rotor should then be radially and dynamically balanced (like a car wheel/tyre) then reinstalled using a pair of quality bearings. Whilst it is out, I would take the opportunity it check/change both of the shear bars as well. Someone once asked why these failures happen - well, a wood chipper is in self destruct the minute it starts to work. Forcing a blade through timber is a real, hard impact. These forces are transmitted through the steel to the bearings which may fail, or may leave a "step" in the shaft or, over longer periods cause the shaft to bend (especially if someone has chucked something bad in it previous to your ownership). The last 152 was built in 1999 or Y2K so ten years of abuse ain't bad. I have seen machines which, due to their design, suffer from failures every year! Best regards PeteB
  10. Look in the classified section, I've one I can hire out!
  11. I've occasionally seen cool stuff like motorised bar stools etc at car shows and events, like at The Pod, Marston etc. Cool Vid and he was at some speed really!
  12. The Brum "Open Spaces" contract is not street trees but G&T are also looking at contracts in Stoke on Trent amongst other places. I'm told they also have regained Portsmouth and Basingstoke too. Fair play to them and well done to Dave and Andy!
  13. TBH JJ, I'd use that as a deposit on a new machine as money is very cheap at the moment. You'd get a brand new machine, warranty Lah Di Dah Di Dah for very little in the way of monthly payments. Give Chelmsford Grass Machinery a call on 01245 462264 and ask them about the GreenMech 1323, 1523 and Quad Chip deals that are ongoing rather than potentially buying someones trouble!

have a look in the classified section, I've a tigerspeed for sale - all but brand new for £2,700 plus vat, and it ias the same as the GTM! Otherwise have a CS100 from GreenMech - top tool in that market for a grand less than Vermeer!
  15. Just say " look at the s I deal with at work!" Or when she moans, "better than dog stuff!"
  16. Very brave of you to look to the future and make some sacrifices for the betterment of your time with your daughter. I hope it works out well for you and good luck with your new position.
  17. Hey Genset, hope you improve soon. I recently had a spell of ab for a chest infection- left things far too late and had pleurisy in three patches and a partially collapsed lung. Do what the doc says even if it hurts the pocket or you could get worse!
  18. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Deepest sympathies to all concerned. Chin up and be strong.
  19. There is a big chestnut over at Groby Pool (west of Leicester) that has about five courses of blue bricks blocking off a cavity at its base!
  20. We used to have an old newspaper behind the seat that provided heat to melt iced up padlocks.
  21. When I ran Barrowcliff's it stood at about 100k, now that has finished , a divorce and working for GreenMech has made it about 150k for the next 20 years:w00t: Trapped in a house that was brought high and now worth low. About 110k to the ex. (sold the old house) No credit cards, all mortgage. What's in the house/garage is all mine.
  22. I was discussing the Gibb's Woodchuck with a group of people the other day!
  23. At GreenMech we have the Quad Chip which is "smaller" than the 190 but bigger with its 9" wide opening or a 1928 which is bigger with its 11" wide opening and 50hp engine! Not known of a QuadChip up for grabs used but there is a couple of 1928's about. I've a 2008 up in the classified section. I take it that you have passed the trailer towing thing, so weight isn't an issue?
