A good friend of mine is keen to embark on the Prof Dip soon - maybe next year. Apparently if 5 or more people are keen to do it and have a suitable venue, Treelife will look in to running a course for them. He is based in Swindon so is wondering if anyone in the south west/m4 corridor might be up for forming a group. Let me know if you might be interested. Paul

A guy I know and have done some work for who owns one of the lakes near Pool Keynes. It is a great spot but he has some pretty exclusive holiday homes there so may not want a load of arbs ruining the peace for his guests!

I am investigating another alternative - awaiting an answer from the land owner at the moment. Otherwise the pub looks good I reckon. How about all those that want to camp say so here and in a week or so I will ring the pub and book some pitches?

After missing all the high jinks at Capel I hope to make this one. Shame about the caming - would much prefer to camp than use a hotel. Looking forward to it!

I think I must understand the phrase "self-tend" differently from you then. I understood self-tending to be when the climbing line slips down through your hitch as you climb the tree i.e. you can be simply climbing without any hands on the rope (just using both arms on branches etc) and the rope will glide through the hitch. Then when you stop and sit back it grips. I can see how a blake's and a pulley makes one handed slack-tendering possible, but not self tending. Am I confused?

Couldn't agree more about the night dive -that is too amazing! It was the first dive on my advanced course and I was a bit nervous...when you are on the surface looking down the water looks pretty scary and black. Once we were in though it was the most relaxing dive I have ever done - used much less gas than normal! After a while we killed the torches, accustomed our eyes to the low light and then enjoyed the crazy phosphorence. Stunning.
