Ok cool. That's a lovely looking dog - is it a collie cross of some sort? I am hoping to get a dog soon so am on the lookout for good breeds.

I used Arbortrail/Arborcad for the first time this week using a PDA. I found it pretty easy to pick up and it seems like an extremely useful and time-saving tool.

I found when I started tree work I lost weight and am definitely in better shape. I run to get a cardio workout though as work doesn't give you that kind of fitness...well, unless you are dragging brash up and down hill all day.

Nope - that is just how I took it. I think the flash gives it that glistening slightly too colourful appearance.

Might quit this tree work lark and become a fungal photographer then! The people I was with thought a) I was bonkers for taking pics of it and b) that is did look kind of alien-like. It is fairly disgusting I guess!

Arborist. Surely if you have a knowledge of trees which informs how you work with them you can have this title?

While on holiday in the Peaks I spotted this fine fellow on an ash. I think it is I. hispidus. You can see it exuding drops of liquid from the underside - apparently this may be to dry underlying wood to a more favourable moisture content for the fungus. (Lonsdale).

Looks like it could be Perenniporia fraxinia to me.
