  1. you'll be surprised, we asssessors arent animals or robots we have been through exactly the same processes as you candidates & then some ,,,,,,,,,. so talk to your assessor take your time & if you need talk through the process to yourself as you do it its your assessment & no one elses be logical practical & use the process you now know dont choose a tree to impress as there arent any extra points if you impress him with a tough tree ,, choose your trees wisely
  2. remember the assessment is one of competance not excellence,,,
  3. speak to the person who you organised the course with & raise your mis-givings.. ! how do the other candidates feel ? have you raised this with the tutor ?
  4. in a word AMSTERDAM
  5. spraying certs are a legal requirement if you are going to do it !! strings on bow etc etc
  6. got a hakkie 1x37 easy ,, full hydraulic power take off requuired less than a year old ,, can be seen on our gallery page of our website
  7. hi AL as to Arbtalk as a resource, yep its good ! I would draw your attention to the SEARCH facility option as it works really well that way you dont ask questions that have been answered a hundred times before ... Keep on the right side of those that know & you'll do well grasshopper ....
  8. assest = £ turnover = £ Profit = £ any director or s/trader remuneration = £ proof of any contracts or guarentee market share at least consistant turnover last 3-5 years then look at the praticallity of who could buy it is it transerfable ? beyond a certain geographic area before travel makes it un sustainable asset value + profit is a base line however any investor will look at the cost and how long to breakeven & see a profit iain
  9. Welcome as Steve says courses do not a climber make ,,, you've either got it or you aint however 20yrs in the sky is a bleeding good start ,, most of the work is in your head rather than in your arm,,,, its work planning , effective control of your time, anticipating what comes next text books are fine to start you off but I'd suggest you learn from those that have been successful to give you aheads start , when you book a course ask as to who is likely to instruct you ... then be a sponge, ask lots of question, watch climbers climbing , when you climb spend enough time planning where & how your going to operate & that starts before you get into the tree , too many rush up the wrong side of a tree & then struggle far more than they would had they simply asseesed the trees structure first ,, then it gets sweaty I'm afraid ,, time in the tree will teach you whats good for you & what isnt all the best Iain
  10. Hi A Sorry to hear you've been hit with all that ........ but I'm sure your personality will bring you through First ,,priority= Family second focus is cut all wasted money expenditure third explore income including benefits ( seriously mate you've put in so dont be scared of taking out of the system) fourth dont be afraid of arms length management ,, I had too for months quite a few years back following a bad car smash meant working was not possible ... So do what what you can go pricing, even if you have to be driven to see the client you'll be suprised their response will lift you on its own then rely on those you know can do the job without taking the piss ... then when you improve look at options ,, training - assessing - consultancy - advisory theres loads of Newbies around that would love to gain the heads up from guys who've been there & done it look at these & carryout a distant appraisal can you realistically do this at the sharp end & if so is that sustainable going forward 47 is oone thing 57 is quite another ... I am available as a sounding board as are the rest of your mates chin up dude
  11. law and property act sect 21 allows landlords to seize leased premises back following 8 weeks notice so thats that as to your equipment , go & get it as to anything else I really wouldn't try to hard ,, yes you can chance your arm & ask for recompense, for any loss ... though, I seriously doubt you'll get any loss of wage as legal notice has been given & effected ,, these people will have a massive legal team & can drowned you in paper work ,which will cost you 000's to respond personally I suggest you get your kit & then get on with enjoying life ............ rgds iain
  12. being 'on call' is more hassle than its worth ....... imo unless its part of a wider parcel of work to offset the staffing costs as to coucil approved , most councils have a list of known contractors that they give out to planning applicants to be a direct contractor & to avoid competition regs breachs, the council would have to engage you through a vetting / procurement system Iain

  18. tell us what you want & we'll see how cheap we can do it my advice is dont spend what you are yet to earn .. be realistic.. the dream kit comes with the need to have it for a specific requirement...... as apposed to the desire to simply have it too many times have i had newbies look to buy stuff , without the first clue what the hell its used for ..............
  19. i've just had our 4th splitter made a vertical 20t monster compact enough to be practical ,, but its bleedin awesome i'll get some photos .. the Fabrication company made it for me for £1000+vat can fit on front loader , forklift or three point linkage, runs off hyd to leave the pto spare it split an old knarly log & chucked a bit 6-8 ft away ...............a bloody ace bit of kit
