  11. booked for 3 days last week, but had to go back this morning and move the last bits of timber out after fixing the boxer over the weekend
  12. reasonable sized pine removal, lots of planting to avoid and a long drag to the chipper. all the timber except the stem was staying on site in pieces moved with the boxer, to be cut up and moved by the customers friend back to his house with his g-wiz electric car and 4ft trailer. the council received 7 phonecalls and several emails in complaint about its removal. the included union ran down into the stem by around 1.5 m, and had obviously started to fail at some point stumpbusters are coming to grind the stump good job but a bit of a slog
  13. id rather give up removals than have to do them without my boxer I couldn't even contemplate doing a removal of this size without it
  14. rabbit (and a little free range pork belly) with porchini mushroom sausages
  15. rob just talk about what you see, what ever else you say is only opinion and unless its supported by hard evidence it will only ever be opinion people want things in black and white, statements for example like moribund crown apex and bifurcation of stem only make you come accross as a smart arse IMO why reduce and thin? thats something ive never understood. you naturally thin as you reduce and you certainly dont want to remove any inner crown growth
  16. id be keen to hear that anecdote mike, was it the strange crossover on the last 16 strand of the day at the apf?

  20. 10k or there abouts, but i have got a grab bucket, normal bucket, pallet forks, tow hitch and log splitter with it
  21. boxer/GRCS combo is sweet. the ability to pull large pieces while lowering them really opens up options and saves messing around having to lower small stuff that you can pull with a tag line by hand. also makes long pulls achievable customer wanted the tree started before i went to NZ, but was happy to wait for it to be finished yeah 660 isuzu nkr and unimog 1200
  22. started this Oak removal in november of last year, we did half a day on it then went back to it yesterday to finish it off. It was a solid 4ft at the base and was causing damage to the stables below. Interesting removal, plenty of rigging over the stables and crashed out as much as we could onto the waste ground on one side. used the boxer to control the tag line and pull stuff over the roof as it was lowered with the GRCS. Felled the stem with a tirfor winch and left it where it fell. all brash and cord in the waste ground was stacked in habitat piles and larger timber was left where it landed
  23. personally id be very carefull and wary giving advice like that, especially not knowing 100% of the facts
  24. I know at least 2 people on arbtalk who are quicker climbing on a prusick than most of the other people on the forum climbing on what ever system they think is best The old saying , all the gear and no idea springs to mind Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. You don't need 2 carabiners, a dmm boa is large enough The other point is that he is a beginner, start at the beginning, learn the basics and advance when ability allows, he doesn't have to be a srtwpblahblahblah convert from the word go Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
